Hello and welcome to the forums!

I'm Odd dude, pleased to meet you; if it helps, you can call me OD ;). I will be helping you with your infection. However, it is important to take note of the following - quite the wall of text, I know, but please bear with me:

  • Logs from malware removal programs (Hijackthis is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient whilst I analyze any logs you post.
  • Please carefully read any instruction that I give you.
Reading too lightly will cause you to miss important steps, which could have destructive effects.
  • If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
  • Only YOU must use these instructions, they are not suitable for any other computer with similar problems.
  • Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan. The one thing you should always do, though, is making sure that your antivirus definitions are up-to-date!
  • If I tell you to download a tool which you already have, please re-download it and do not use the copy you already have. This is because the tools are updated regularly.
  • In Windows Vista, all tools need to be started by right clicking and selecting Run as administrator!
  • I am going to stick with you until ALL malware is gone from your system. I would appreciate it if you were to do the same. From this point, we're in this together ;)
  • As I am still in training at the Malware Removal University, anything I do must be checked by an experienced malware fighter. This means there might be a slight delay in my answers.
  • Lastly, I am no magican. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system. Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data. Have means of backing up your data available.

Create a new log with the latest version of HijackThis
  • Download HJTInstall.exe to your desktop and run it.
  • Following the on-screen prompts.
  • After the installation has finished, browse to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro
  • Now start HijackThis.
  • Click Do a system scan and save a log file.
  • Post the log file here. (Notepad will automatically open with the log file once HijackThis! has finished scanning). Do not attach the log file.

Make an Uninstall List
I need you to create an uninstall list so I can further analyze your situation.

  • Start HijackThis.
  • Click Open the Misc Tools section
  • Click Open Uninstall Manager
  • Click Save list...
  • Save the list to your desktop, or any other convenient place.

Hello Coño!

Before we begin cleaning you, I would like you to read the following topic:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=33112

I want you to realize this: Person-to-Person file sharing programmes are the #1 cause of infection to people. The program might not be infected, but the files you download with it most certainly can - and in fact, most of them will - be infected.

Please uninstall the Person-to-Person file sharing programmes mentioned below through Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

LimeWire
Ares
BitTorrent DNA (it may also be named just BitTorrent or just DNA)

Also uninstall any other P2P programs I may have missed.
Thanks :)

After removing P2P programs:

RSIT
Please download random/random's system information tool (RSIT) and run it. At the disclaimer screen, choose a period of one month. Then click Continue. It will produce two logs:

  • log.txt (will be maximized)
  • info.txt (will be minimized)

Please post both in your next reply. If they won't fit into one post, divide them over multiple posts :)

I cant delete them with Control panel, because my explorer doesn't do a thing. Rebooting won't help either. I only got my desktop and if i double click my computer it doesn't show anything either.

That's not really helpful. We'll skip the uninstalls for now.

Are you able to download and run tools?

If you are, please perform the following:

Blacklight
Download F-Secure Blacklight to the root of your drive (usually C:\).
  • Click Start > Run and copy & paste the following:
    Code: Select all
    \fsbl /expert
  • Then click OK
  • Click I accept the agreement, then Scan to start the scan
  • After the scan has finished, EXIT Blacklight. Do not choose to rename any items, because legitimate items might be present!
  • Post the fsbl-xxxxxxx.log logfile that was made (can be found in the same directory as Blacklight). xxxxxxx are numbers representing the current date.

If you cannot download and/or run tools, please inform me (please include detailed information about why you can't do it) so we can handle this differently.

Also please answer the following:
  • Can you boot into Safe mode? (reboot your computer and press F8 before the windows logo appears, then choose safe mode)
  • How are you getting on the internet now? Are you using the infected computer or were the issues so bad you had to post this from a clean computer?
  • Can you open Task Manager? (press ctrl+alt+delete)

Post next the logs from RSIT (if you were able to run it), the log from Blacklight (if you were able to run it), detailed description of any arisen difficulties, and answers to my questions.

1 I will try later on, I'm not on the infected pc right now.

2 I have a desktop icon of google chrome on my desktop, in that way I go online. + I did all the hijacklogs etc via my infected pc.

3 No I can't.

I will edit later with the other stuff.

Okay, I will see the other logs (if you are able to run the tools) later.

Could you please elaborate on point 2 and 3?

For point 2, it would really help if you would provide a more detailed description on what you see. Do you have a taskbar? Can you click Start? Any issues like these I would like you to report.

For point 3, why not? Does it say task manager has been disabled, does it just never pop up, etc...?

Well, I see a taskbar, but just like 2 seconds after my Windows began, It stops working. I can't click anything, it won't work. I can't click start.

@3, well at first I tried ctrl+alt+del and then the taskbar showed the green thingy, but I doubleclicked and it didn't pop up. Now my taskbar stops working and my taskmanager won't react either.

Please also post info.txt and the Blacklight log :)

The following is very important as your flash drive is heavily infected:

Flash_Disinfector
Download Flash_Disinfector by sUBs.
  • Disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus/antimalware programs. That ensures they won't interfere.
  • Run Flash_Disinfector. When asked, plug in the flash drive.
  • Your desktop will disappear as the program starts cleaning the flash drives.
  • When done, a message box will appear. Click OK
  • If your desktop does not come up, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to bring up Task Manager. Click File > New task (Run...) and enter:
    Code: Select all
    explorer
  • Then click OK and your desktop will appear.

Atm I'm doing the flash disinfector thing, but I don't think it's ready yet. Haven't seen a OK popup. Where can I find the flashlight log? I've run it trough and stuff but I haven't managed to find it. If you could say something like C:/flashlight or so I'll post it.

Hi Coño

Blacklight log can be found here: C:\fsbl-[date]-[time].txt

Please do the following as well:
Copy and paste this to notepad:
Code: Select all
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>hosts
attrib +s +r +h hosts
popd
del %0

Save it to your desktop as fix.bat. Change 'File type' to 'All files' when saving the file!

Double click the file you just saved to run it. A black box will flash open and the file will be deleted.

NOTE: this will likely solve the issue with Spyware Doctor, however please don't fix anything with Spyware Doctor as that will remove the signs the tools I will have you run will be looking for.

When you post the Blacklight log, post a new RSIT log as well as it's been a while. (You will not get info.txt this time)
This time, please choose a period of 3 months when running RSIT
