Scratching my head, can't find Malware in my PC

Unread postby spankyjo54 » December 6th, 2008, 3:15 am

I can't explain how I got the thing I just know I have looked for it till I am blue in the face. All directions other people on the net were advised to do certain things and though it worked for them, it didn't work for me. This think is hiding in my PC big time. Its the "Winweb Security" Trojan. I am getting so sick of pop ups from this thing telling me I have this or that dangerous virus, trojan, etc. and I know I don't I thought maybe you could help me find it if I send in a list of the log from my 'Hijack this". I mean, I will try anything at this point. I just formatted and reloaded XP so I have no clue where this thing came from. Maybe you can help. Log below. :?

Hello spanyjo54,

I am not sure if I did the renaming of Hijack this right or not but did as instructed but I did not have a Hijackthis.exe in that folder, but saw the icon to open the program and changed its name and got another list for you below: Some how, I don't think I did it right, HUMMMM?

Yes you did it fine. :)

Is your Antivirus+Antispyware from Sunbelt Software active or has it expired? Is it a paid version?

Do you use IE or Firefox to browse the internet?
Were your browsers closed when you run HijackThis?

I do have a legal registration for Viper, I just bought it. I am not sure if my browser was closed or not when I scanned, I think it was.
I also use Firefox in stead of IE, I had to much trouble with IE recognizing my e-mail address a valid.
Firefox usually had no problem with it.
I looked on the site of Jotti but I am not sure what file you are wanting me to scan. Please advise. Thanks. :cyclopsani: :D

Hello spankyjo54,

The file in the quote box please. Just follow my instructions below:

Upload a File to Jotti
Please visit http://virusscan.jotti.org/

Copy/paste this file and path into the white box at the top:

Due to lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
