Hi kathy33

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

One reason for slowness is here:

Total RAM: 511 MB (23% free)

You have little free RAM.

I can suggest which programs you can disable to improve performance if you like to?

yes that would be helpful. However the bigger issue is my explorer not just slow but completely freezing up so I have to force it to close through the task manager. I had to do this 5 times last night in just a half hour time frame. I wouldn't think that had to do with the RAM available

There are also two unwanted programs installed; let's see if this helps.

Uninstall via add/remove programs:

GamesBar 1.1.0.5
iWin Games (remove only)

Open HijackThis, click do a system scan only and checkmark these:

O2 - BHO: GamesBar - {6F282B65-56BF-4BD1-A8B2-A4449A05863D} - C:\Program Files\GamesBar\oberontb.dll
O3 - Toolbar: GamesBar - {6F282B65-56BF-4BD1-A8B2-A4449A05863D} - C:\Program Files\GamesBar\oberontb.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_02\bin\jusched.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adobe Photo Downloader] "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Album Starter Edition\3.2\Apps\apdproxy.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HP Software Update] C:\Program Files\HP\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd2.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adobe Reader Speed Launcher] "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\Reader_sl.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
O4 - Global Startup: HP Digital Imaging Monitor.lnk = C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqtra08.exe
O4 - Global Startup: HP Image Zone Fast Start.lnk = C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqthb08.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {1A93C934-025B-4c3a-B38E-9654A7003239} - C:\Program Files\GamesBar\oberontb.dll
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: GamesBar - {1A93C934-025B-4c3a-B38E-9654A7003239} - C:\Program Files\GamesBar\oberontb.dll

Close all windows including browser and press fix checked.

Reboot.

Delete these:

C:\Program Files\GamesBar
C:\Program Files\iWin Games

Empty Recycle Bin.

Re-run rsit

Post back a fresh rsit log and tell me if it helped.

I ran the system scan but the following items were not there for me to checkmark:

O2 - BHO: GamesBar - {6F282B65-56BF-4BD1-A8B2-A4449A05863D} - C:\Program Files\GamesBar\oberontb.dll
O3 - Toolbar: GamesBar - {6F282B65-56BF-4BD1-A8B2-A4449A05863D} - C:\Program Files\GamesBar\oberontb.dll
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {1A93C934-025B-4c3a-B38E-9654A7003239} - C:\Program Files\GamesBar\oberontb.dll
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: GamesBar - {1A93C934-025B-4c3a-B38E-9654A7003239} - C:\Program Files\GamesBar\oberontb.dll

And when I tried to delete the following, it was no longer there as well:
C:\Program Files\GamesBar

Here is the logfile I received after re-running rsit. As for how my computer is working now, I will play around with it tonight to see if it has gotten better.

Great :)

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Next we remove all used tools.

You can delete rsit and c:\rsit folder.

Please download OTCleanIt and save it to desktop.

  • Click the CleanUp! button.
  • Select Yes when the "Begin cleanup Process?" prompt appears.
  • If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.
  • The tool will delete itself once it finishes, if not delete it by yourself.

Note: If you receive a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding OTCleanIt attempting to contact the internet, please allow it to do so.

  • Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows XP then you should disable and re-enable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

You can find instructions on how to enable and re-enable system restore here:
