Hello, and Image to the Malware Removal forums.
My name is Michael I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

HijackThis logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me. I know that you need
your computer working as quickly as possible, and I will work hard to help see that happen.

Please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
  • I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

Please note: All of my posts need to be checked by a teacher, so please be patient while I attempt to remove your malware.

Make an uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:
  • Start HijackThis
  • Click on the Config button
  • Click on the Misc Tools button
  • Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
  • Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Save the file to your desktop.

Please post this log on your next reply.

Thanks, Michael

Remove 1 of your Anti Virus programs.

You are operating your computer with multiple Anti Virus programs running in memory at once:

Symantec
AVG

Anti-virus programs take up an enormous amount of your computer's resources when they are actively scanning your computer. Having two anti-virus programs running at the same time can cause your computer to run very slow, become unstable and even, in rare cases, crash.

Please remove 1 of them. Also, if you chose to keep AVG, please note that there is an updated version, http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-v ... ee-edition , which should be installed.

If your Norton is up-to-date, I would recommend keeping that because it has a firewall too.

Please post a new Hijackthis log.

Please download AVG8, http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-v ... ee-edition.

Uninstall programs

Some programs that you have are malicious. We need to uninstall them.

  • First, Click on Start > Control Panel
  • Next, Click on Add or Remove Programs
  • Wait for the list of programs to load
  • Located the following programs and click Remove
    AVG7
  • Follow the prompts of the uninstaller to uninstall/remove the program
  • Once all of the above have been uninstalled, please close Add/Remove Programs

Please now run the AVG8 installation. Restart your computer when it is complete.

Download and Run: RSIT

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

Please post the 2 rsit logs and a new Hijackthis log.

Error 0x80070005

AVG 7 has detected and healed some of the malware, I did download RSIT, here are my 3 logs:

If you would like to install AVG8, please visit the forum below and post your problem.

http://freeforum.avg.com/list.php?13

I can also recommend a couple of other Free Anti Viruses that are as good if not better than AVG.

Here are some Anti Virus products which are free for personal use and most used:
Avast I recommend this one
Avira

Here are some really good paid programs which you can buy online or in a shop nearby:
ESET NOD32
Kaspersky Anti-Virus or Kaspersky Internet Security with Firewall included

Mike, The symptoms seem to have gone away, and the speed has increased but there is still a Antivirus Pro 2009 folder. When I attempt to uninstall I get:

"An error occured when attempting to uninstall "Antivirus Pro 2009". It may already have been uninstalled. Would you like to remove "Antivirus Pro 2009" for the add/remove list?"

Yes, that simply means that the program is gone but the add/remove programs item is still there. When it asks you to remove it, please say yes.

Were you able to install Avast or Avira? Did you go the the AVG forum?
