I've been trying for three days to figure out why my computer is running weird. It seems to bog down when trying to save settings if I restart/close windows. Also it takes awhile to start up or get my browser to work correctly. I've ran antivirus, spyware, done everything that I can possibly think of right now. Here is my HJT report, hope you guys can see something in there!

Hi jgbullock, Welcome to the forums!Image

My name is Ken, on these forums I am known as ktreffin. I will be helping you with your current problem. I know that you need your computer working as quickly as possible, and I will work hard to help see that it happens.

HiJackThis logs do take some time to review and research. I would appreciate it if while you are waiting, you could please do the following for me:

Please make an Uninstall List using HiJackThis.

To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:
    1. Start HijackThis
    2. Click on the Config button
    3. Click on the Misc Tools button
    4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
    5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here in a reply.

As we work together to resolve your problem, please read these instructions carefully. You may wish to print them off or copy them to Notepad.

Lastly, please keep these points in mind:
  • If you have questions, please DON'T hesitate to ask!
  • The instructions I give are specific to your current problem and should not be used on other systems.
  • Please post your replies only to this topic, and please DO NOT start a new thread.
  • Since there may be multiple issues with your system, please continue to follow this thread until I have given you an "All Clean!"

I am reviewing your log now, and will be back with you shortly. Thank you for your patience.

Ken

Hello James,

Before we begin, I need to stress some important points to you.
  • Some of the instructions I will provide may get quite long. I highly recommend that you print a copy of them off or copy them into Notepad.
  • If at any time you have questions, please DON'T hesitate to ask!
  • Please keep in mind that the instructions I give are specific to your current problem and should not be used on other systems.
  • Also, please remember that there may be multiple issues with your system, please continue to follow this thread until I have given you an "All Clean!"

Ready? Lets go....

You aren't running Anti Virus Software. Please download and install one of them first!!!

Use an Anti Virus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future. Here are some Anti Virus products which are free for personal use and most used:
AntiVir
Avast
BitDefender

Update your Anti Virus Software - It is imperative that you update your Anti virus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your anti virus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

As soon as you have finished with this we can begin with the fix.

*===============================================*

Things to put in your next reply

Please post the following in your next reply:
  • A New Hijack This Log

Thanks,
Ken

Should this Anti-virus program act like its being installed twice? Cuz thats what happened both times i started this. Also, its funny to say i dont have anti-virus protection. I did have it with zonealarm, but did not notice it wasnt working til you said something. I used it I thought after I started this thread....

Hello jgbullock,

It does appear that you are infected.

Ready? Lets go....

Step #1: Upload malware for scanning

I'd like you to check a file/some files for malware.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winsys2.exe

  • Copy/Paste the first file on the list into the white Upload a file box.
  • Click Send/Submit, and the file will upload to VirusTotal/Jotti, where it will be scanned by several anti-virus programmes.

well, I tried the malwarebytes program. It locks up after about 30 minutes of it running. Also, when installing it, it kept trying to open this wal-mart picture viewer program. I deleted that program, and tried to run the malware program again and it locked up around the same time. Here is my HJT report though. Let me know how you what to do next.

Were you able to get that file uploaded to Jotti or VirusTotal? Also, did you get any kind of error code with Malwarebytes'? If you can upload that file so we can see what that looks like, then we will go from there.

Let me know if you have any other problems or questions.

OK, If you can go ahead and uninstall and then reinstall it, and see what happens. If you get an error code, please let me know exactly what it says so I can pass the information on to the developer.

Hope the Girlfriend's dentist appointment goes well. ;)

Uninstalled and reinstalled. No error this time. It still locks up when checking though.

Girlfriend got her wisdom teeth pulled today, so I've been playing butler most of the day.

Did you see any kind of error code? Possibly a 3 digit number? If you can give me any additional information it may help to figure out why it's not working.

I'll tell you what....in the mean time, because I am not seeing a whole lot in your log, let's do this:

Step #1: Run Kaspersky Online Scan

Please go to Kaspersky website to perform an online antivirus scan.
  • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  • Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
    • Archives
    • Mail databases
  • Click on My Computer under Scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  • Save this report to your desktop by changing the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  • Now close the window.

*===============================================*

Step #2: Things to put in your next reply

Please post the following in your next reply:
  • A New Hijack This Log
  • Contents of the Kaspersky Online Scan log

Thanks,
Ken

i ran it when i was leaving for work but my bro in law saw that it was finished while i was gone and closed it (kaspersky) I'll run it again and either have it for you in the morning, or really late tonite. Sorry for the late reply.

Also with malwarebytes, it doesnt show a 3 digit code when it locks up. It seems to lock up before its finished with the first drive and about to get on the second one. I'm begining to wonder if my main hard drive might be going out on me?

*Edit*

Kaspersky finished, said there was absolutely nothing wrong. There wasnt anything in the view scan report. Here is my HJT though.
