Hi SiN_Crucible

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/lo ... areout.exe

  • Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure Run fixit is checked and click Finish.
  • The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
  • You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
  • Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
  • Once the desktop loads, post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log in the forum please.

Re: virus problem step 2

Unread postby SiN_Crucible » September 18th, 2008, 9:52 pm

ok the first step I was told to download fixwareout and run it then copy it and another hijackthis logfile so here it is I hope my problem is solved or at least part of it taken care of. thanks for all your help so far and I hope you can get my problem fixed. I accidentally made another thread so I copied it and put it here but my topic is "step two I guess" if you could delete that or something so I'm not wasting another person's time that would be great.

OK, we continue with this:

We will begin with ComboFix. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:

  1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix, link
    Remember to re-enable them afterwards.

  2. Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

C:\ComboFix.txt
New HijackThis log.

A word of warning: Please do not run ComboFix on your own. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:

1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
5. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
6. Restart your computer.

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the codebox below into it:

Code: Select all
File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mpVDdMoq.ini2
C:\WINDOWS\system32\gQrAyccf.ini2
C:\WINDOWS\system32\HQttAJlm.ini2
C:\WINDOWS\system32\xddkqxhj.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rqBbefii.ini2

Registry::
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{ca65fb06-72fa-11dc-9bfd-0015c5ccc1c3}]

Save this as "CFScript"

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

Image

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log.

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

Have you set these?

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{4AFF2074-670E-460F-B21C-68A7650C4AA7}: NameServer = 208.67.220.220,208.67.222.222
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{71864E38-48BE-4356-9F2E-86D1053BD972}: NameServer = 208.67.220.220,208.67.222.222
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{EDA190F6-3368-4979-A4D4-7B3A5B4AD686}: NameServer = 208.67.220.220,208.67.222.222

They mean that your internet connection comes from OpenDNS.

I don't understand what you mean by "have I set these" do you mean like that's my internet and it's an open channel or something?

I shouldn't have a preferred IP address so I don't think I set those.

Thanks for information.

Open HijackThis, click do a system scan only and checkmark these:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{4AFF2074-670E-460F-B21C-68A7650C4AA7}: NameServer = 208.67.220.220,208.67.222.222
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{71864E38-48BE-4356-9F2E-86D1053BD972}: NameServer = 208.67.220.220,208.67.222.222
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{EDA190F6-3368-4979-A4D4-7B3A5B4AD686}: NameServer = 208.67.220.220,208.67.222.222

Close all windows including browser and press fix checked.

Reboot.

Now lets check some settings on your system.
(2000/XP) Only
In the windows control panel. If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties. Click the Networking tab. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
That option might not be available on some systems
Next Go start run type cmd and hit OK
type
ipconfig /flushdns
then hit enter, type exit hit enter
(that space between g and / is needed

Note: If you can't access internet anymore, please restore those entries from HijackThis backups.

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

Note: If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select 'Run as administrator' to perform this scan.

  1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  4. Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
  5. Click on My Computer under Scan.
  6. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  7. You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  8. Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  9. Please post this log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
