The first "high energy" collision (the one that's supposed to create the black hole) is not scheduled till Oct 21st (they have to run things up to speed), so the panic's not over yet.

Still time for you to kiss your a**e goodbye. ;) :D

Edit: I see from your article that the BBC says there's no schedule yet for the high energy collisions, which is funny since it was the BBC that I got the date 21st Oct from (heard it on the radio). :?

A good point, might be able to knock down the payments to just 5 years left. Already rented this film to brush up on my blackhole survival skills

Levity aside if it happens it happens and not a lot to be done, apart from shake a fist in the general direction of Cern's location and try not to have any flashbacks recalling all those B movies were deluded scientist's destroy the planet. Though personally I do think a complete waste of money.

The experiment will continue for 25 years if they don't find the Higgs particle earlier. That means the next 25 years we should be prepared for a black hole to appear in Switzerland any day.

Milka may get sucked in as well..

As far as I know the whole Earth will be sucked in eventually, but Austria a little earlier than the Netherlands and United Kingdom.
