Edit: I see from your article that the BBC says there's no schedule yet for the high energy collisions, which is funny since it was the BBC that I got the date 21st Oct from (heard it on the radio).

The experiment will continue for 25 years if they don't find the Higgs particle earlier. That means the next 25 years we should be prepared for a black hole to appear in Switzerland any day.
