My hijackthis report, let me show it to you - trojan problem

Unread postby Satanic_Hamster » September 3rd, 2008, 12:44 pm

The past week, I've been dealing with some trojans. Late last week, I started hearing random nonsense sound clips. Found some various viruses/trojans, deleted them.

Uninstalled Norton, installed Avast. Cleared out some misc. things. Ran SDfix as well. Looking around this forum, my problems might hae been from Troj/Sdbot-Li.

At this point, I *hope* I might have everything taken care of, but I'd like confirmation and/or help. Would rather like to avoid reformatting.

Hi Satanic_Hamster

To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.

You will now be presented with a screen similar to the one below:

Image

5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply.

Please download JavaRa and unzip it to your desktop.

***Please close any instances of Internet Explorer before continuing!***

  • Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program.
  • From the drop-down menu, choose English and click on Select.
  • JavaRa will open; click on Remove Older Versions to remove the older versions of Java installed on your computer.
  • Click Yes when prompted. When JavaRa is done, a notice will appear that a logfile has been produced. Click OK.
  • A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location.

Then download and install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 7.

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

Now, on running Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 7, it said there was already a version installed, do you want to update, but then installed to a new directory.

Do you have another location to download RSIT? From the link you provided, it just downloads a file of zero bytes size. I do not see that program in the download section of this website either.

No need to install that again, my bad

If you now have two update 7 in add/remove programs, please uninstall one of them.

Yes that is not in download page. Does right-click and save as / save target as help?

If not, try this instead:

  1. Please download OTViewIt by OldTimer and save it to your Desktop.
  2. Close all applications and windows.
  3. Double-click on the OTViewIt.exeto start OTViewIt.
  4. Place a checkmark in the blue-colored "Scan All Users" checkbox.
  5. Click the blue Run Scan button.
  6. OTViewIt will now start its scan.
  7. When the scan is complete, two text files will be created, OTViewIt.Txt <- this one will be opened in Notepad and Extras.txt, on Desktop.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of OTViewIt.Txt and the Extras.txt to your post.

Same problem. Downloads a file w/ zero bytes.

Hmmm. Switched from Firefox to IE. Says I don't have the security settings to download RSiT or OTViewIt.

Looking around the settings, never had this come up before.

Yes. Norton was on for a while, and was annoying the hell out of me with stupid popups from Protection Center.

Uninstalled and switched to Avast.

EDIT:
Norton Protection Center hates it if you don't have all the defaults set to their liking. Don't have it set to auto download and install updates because you don't want your pc rebooting without permission? Oooo, that's a popup. Have less then three months left in your subscription but can't renew it because it's not expired? You better BELIEVE that's a popup. Every ten minutes.

Stupid jerk norton.

OK, then please uninstall everything related to LiveUpdate from add/remove programs and post back a fresh hijackthis log. We will continue cleaning after that :)

Odd, thought I got all of those. God I'm really starting to hate Norton products. Even if you uninstall them they have a half dozen services running.

Yes Norton uninstallation doesn't work always very well.

  1. Please download regsearch.zip and save it to your desktop.
  2. Right click on regsearch.zip and select Extract All....
  3. Click Next on seeing the Welcome to the Compressed (zipped) Folders Extraction Wizard.
  4. Click on the Browse button. Click on Desktop. Then click OK.
  5. Once done, check (tick) the Show extracted files box and click Finish.
  6. Double click on regsearch.exe to run it.
  7. Copy and paste afisicx under Enter search strings (case independent) and click OK... (boxed up in red in the screenshot below).

Put each one of these to own lines:

    noxtcyr
    roxtctm
    wsldoekd
    Image
  8. Click OK.
  9. When done, RegSearch.txt will open. Please post the contents of this file in your next reply. This file can also be found on your desktop or wherever regsearch is extracted to.

Download RegDACL, and extract it to C: root (C:\).

Launch Notepad, and copy/paste the box below into a new text file. Save it as FixReg.bat and save it in the same folder as where you extracted RegDACL.

RegDACL HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_AFISICX /GGE:F
RegDACL HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_NOXTCYR /GGE:F
RegDACL HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_ROXTCTM /GGE:F
RegDACL HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WSLDOEKD /GGE:F
RegDACL HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_AFISICX/GGE:F
RegDACL HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_NOXTCYR/GGE:F
RegDACL HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_ROXTCTM /GGE:F
RegDACL HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WSLDOEKD /GGE:F
RegDACL HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_AFISICX\GGE:F
RegDACL HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_NOXTCYR/GGE:F
RegDACL HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_ROXTCTM /GGE:F
RegDACL HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WSLDOEKD /GGE:F

Locate FixReg.bat in that folder and double-click on it.

Reboot.

Go to Start > Run
Type regedit and click OK.

  • On the leftside, click to highlight My Computer at the top.
  • Go up to "File > Export"
    • Make sure in that window there is a tick next to "All" under Export Branch.
    • Leave the "Save As Type" as "Registration Files".
    • Under "Filename" put backup
  • Choose to save it to C:\ or in somewhere else safe location so that you will remember where you put it (don't put it on the Desktop!)
  • Click Save and then go to File > Exit.

Open Notepad and copy the contents of the following box to a new file.

Code: Select all
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Save it as fix.reg (save type: "All files" (*.*)) to your desktop.

It should look like this -> Image

Go to Desktop, double-click fix.reg and merge the infomation with the registry.

Reboot.

Do another search for same keywords and post back results, please.
