Welcome to the MWR forums. My name is muuli. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can take a while to research. Please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:

1. If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
2. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic. Please stay at one forum for help.
3. Please continue reading posts until I give the All Clear. It is important to note this, as a clean looking HijackThis is not always a sign your system is clean.

Note: I am still in training here at Malware Removal, however I will be working under the direct supervision of one of our Malware Experts. Any recommendations will first be approved before being given to you. Because of this, there may be a short delay in getting our responses to you, however be assured that we will be working diligently on your problem.

Hi,

Step 1

I have a few questions for you before we can start to clean :)

Have you locked your Internet Explorer settings? I mean that you can't change your home page etc.

Have you locked Registry Editor?

And you have Absolutist_Games Toolbar, link! You should choose that would you like to remove it or keep it? Let me know.

Step 2

Remove one of your Anti Virus programs.
You are operating your computer with multiple Anti Virus programs running in memory at once:
Avast
AVG7

Anti-virus programs take up an enormous amount of your computer's resources when they are actively scanning your computer. Having two anti-virus programs running at the same time can cause your computer to run very slow, become unstable and even, in rare cases, crash.

Please remove one of them, or let me know that do you want to remove Avast or AVG7.

Step 3

You don't have a firewall on your computer so start windows firewall if not running yet. Press Start -> Controlpanel -> Windows Firewall, then make sure that tap is ON (recommended). Don't install any third party firewall yet.

Step 5

If you already have Smitfraudfix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.

Please download SmitFraudFix.exe by S!Ri and save it to the desktop.

If you can't download it, please download it from these alternative sites:

From Geekstogo
From Security Cadets
From Zebulon

  1. Double click on SmitfraudFix.exe.
  2. Press 1 then hit the Enter key.
  3. It will create a report named rapport.txt, usually at C drive.
  4. Please post back this log in your next reply.

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user. Read more here

Step 5

Please produce uninstall list:
  1. Open HijackThis.
  2. Click on the Open the Misc Tools section button.
  3. Look under System tools.
  4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
  5. Click on the Save list... button.
  6. It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
  7. Notepad will open. Please post this log in your next reply.

Step 6

Please post a fresh HijackThis log, Smitfraudfix log and uninstall list.

Hi,

Step 1

Remove via Add/Remove programs (press Start -> Controlpanel -> Add/Remove programs):
Absolutist Games Toolbar

Step 2

Reboot your computer to Safe mode:
1. Restart your computer.
2. When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
4. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.

Step 3

Once in Safe mode:
Press Start -> My Computer -> Local Disk (C)
Locate the following folder using the path below. If found please delete.
C:\Program Files\Absolutist_Games

Step 4

Run Smitfraudfix...
In Safe Mode, double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

Step 5

Open HijackThis, press Do a system scan only, checkmark following entries:
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://softwarereferral.com/jump.php?wm ... Ojg5&lid=2
R3 - URLSearchHook: Absolutist Games Toolbar - {631ac2d4-57b3-42b0-a148-da33b462c1a3} - C:\Program Files\Absolutist_Games\tbAbs0.dll
O2 - BHO: Absolutist Games Toolbar - {631ac2d4-57b3-42b0-a148-da33b462c1a3} - C:\Program Files\Absolutist_Games\tbAbs0.dll
O3 - Toolbar: IE Custom Tools - {C4DFA6F3-1245-41E5-8E60-7D31427F01B3} - C:\Program Files\Video Add-on\ictmdl.dll (file missing)
O3 - Toolbar: Absolutist Games Toolbar - {631ac2d4-57b3-42b0-a148-da33b462c1a3} - C:\Program Files\Absolutist_Games\tbAbs0.dll
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O7 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System, DisableRegedit=1
O24 - Desktop Component 0: Privacy Protection - file:///C:\windows\privacy_danger\index.htm
Close all other windows including browser and press Fix checked.

Step 6

If you already have Combofix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofi ... e-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Click Yes to allow Combofix to continue scanning for malware.

When done, a log will be produced. Please post that log and a new HijackThis log in your next reply.

Do not mouse click on Combofix while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Step 7

Please post a fresh HijackThis log, Smitfraudfix log and Combofix log.

Hi,

Please check what I said for you at the first. Here is quote...
muuli wrote:3. Please continue reading posts until I give the All Clear. It is important to note this, as a clean looking HijackThis is not always a sign your system is clean.

So please post the logs what I asked, otherwise we just can't be sure that your computer is clean. And if we don't continue this, I think so malwares comes back again and again... :(

Due to Lack of Response this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
