I can't get AV2009 off my system

How do I remove AV2009 off my system (Windows XP Home edition, service pack 3)? I ran the hijack this, and am attaching the log. I ran a trend micro scan prior to that, it found some vulnerabilities, but it always hangs up when it is processing the clean, and never finishes.

I don't know how I got this, I recently downloaded the service pack 3. Today, I installed something called Virtual Earth or a similar name, on MSN whitepages, trying to see an address. I don't know if it came on that, or if it came on the SP3, or if it came with something else..... I also have trend micro pcillin on my machine, and it supposedly removed the AV2009, but when I rebooted, it was back again. I tried to just delete it from my desktop, but it says it is protected. I tried to delete the folder from my system folder, but said it was protected.

I'm not sure what to do now, and I really don't want to wipe my system and start over, please help! Thank you!

Hello and welcome to Malware Removal.

My name is km2357 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

I will be giving you a series of instructions that need to be followed in the order in which I give them to you.

If for any reason you do not understand an instruction or are just unsure then please do not guess, simply post back with your questions/concerns and we will go through it again.

Please do not start another thread or topic, I will assist you at this thread until we solve your problems.

Lastly the fix may take several attempts and my replies may take some time but I will stick with it if you do the same.

Print out these instructions or save them into a notepad on your desktop, because you will not have internet access while in Safe Mode.

Step # 1: Download and Install SDFix
Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)


Step # 2: Boot into Safe Mode

You can go in Safe Mode by restarting your computer, then continually tapping F8 until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter.


Step # 3: Run SDFix

• Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
• Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
• It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
• Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
• When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
• Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
  (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
• Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum.

Do this final step in Normal Mode, not Safe Mode:

Step # 4: Make an uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply.


In your next post/reply, I need to see the following:

1. SDFix Report
2. Uninstall List
3. A fresh HiJackThis Log taken in Normal Mode
