Need Help with rogue XP Security Center!

Unread postby Keifer » July 26th, 2008, 12:52 pm

The rogue XP Security Center has infected my machine.
I'm running XP Profession.
Apparently it disabled part of McAfee and SpyBot.

I downloaded and installed HijackThis.
I renamed it so that it would open.
I opened it and did the scan only.
The instruction said to click on Analyze This.
I did and followed their advice to join a blog.
So here I am.
Here's the log.
What's next?

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt

Post back with the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware log and a new HijackThis log.

Due to lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
