• Any recommendations made are for your computer problems only and should NOT be used on any other computer.
• Please DO NOT run any scans/tools or other fixes unless I ask you to. This is very important for several reasons. Here are just two of them:
  1. The tools that we use are very powerful and can cause >>irreparable damage<< to your computer if not used correctly.
  2. Commercial scanners, for the most part can not completely remove some of the more "resistant" infections. This makes it much more difficult to get rid of completely.

Create an Uninstall List

• Start HijackThis
• Click on the Config button
• Click on the Misc Tools button
• Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button
• Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file
• When you press the Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file
• Copy and paste the contents of that notepad here in your next reply

Update Java Runtime
You are using an old version of Java. Sun's Java is sometimes updated in order to eliminate the exploitation of vulnerabilities in an existing version. For this reason, it's extremely important that you keep the program up to date, and also remove the older more vulnerable versions from your system. The most current version of Sun Java is: Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 7.

• Go to http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
• Go to Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 7 and click on Download button
• In Platform box choose Windows
• Check the box to Accept License Agreement and click Continue
• Click on Windows Offline Installation, click on the link under it which says "jre-6u7-windows-i586-p.exe" and save the downloaded file to your desktop
• Go to Start => Control Panel => Add or Remove Programs
• Uninstall all old versions of Java (Java 3 Runtime Environment, JRE or JSE)
• Reboot your computer
• Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Java if present
• Install the new version by running the newly-downloaded file with the java icon which will be at your desktop, and follow the on-screen instructions
• Reboot your computer

Update Adobe Reader
Recently there have been vunerabilities detected in older versions of Adobe Reader. It is strongly suggested that you update to the current version. Adobe Reader 8.1.2
You can download it from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
If you already have Adobe Photoshop® Album Starter Edition installed or do not wish to have it installed Uncheck the box which says Also Download Adobe Photoshop® Album Starter Edition.

Adobe 8 is a large program and if you prefer a smaller program you can get Foxit 2.3 instead from http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php

SDFix
If you already have SDFix, delete it & download it again as it's being updated regularly.
Download SDFix by AndyManchesta and save it to your desktop.

• Double click on SDFix.exe. By default, it will install to C:\
• Click on Install
• Don't run it yet

Please print out or save this set of instructions as you will not have internet access during the fix.
Restart the computer in Safe Mode
Let me know if you can't boot into Safe Mode. Do not continue with the fixes.

• When you see the BIOS screen, start pressing F8 repeatedly
• A boot menu will appear
• Using the up down arrows, select Safe Mode and press the Enter key
• Windows will now load
• Log in to your usual account

• Navigate to C:\SDfix (if you installed it to the default location, otherwise, locate where you installed it)
• Double click on RunThis.bat
• Type Y to begin the cleanup process
• It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot
• When the PC restarts the tool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished
• Press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons
• Once the desktop icons load, the SDFix report will open on screen. You can also find the report in SDFix folder, named Report.txt
• Copy & paste the contents of the log in your next reply

SmitFraudfix
If you already have Smitfraudfix, delete it & download it again as it's being updated regularly.
Download SmitFraudFix.exe by S!Ri and save it to your desktop.
If you can't download it, download it from these alternative sites:

• Double click on SmitfraudFix.exe
• Press 1 then hit Enter
• It will create a report named rapport.txt, usually at C drive
• Copy & paste the contents of this log in your next reply

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user. Read more here

Download OTMoveIt2.exe by OldTimer and save it to your desktop.

• Double click on OTMoveIt2.exe to run it
• Copy and paste the following in the Code box into OTMoveIt (1)

Note: Do not type it out to minimize the risk of typo error.

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\Web Technologies
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cxbrk.dll

• Click on MoveIt! (2)
• When done, click on Exit (3)

Note: If a file or folder can't be moved immediately, you may asked to restart your computer. Choose Yes.

The log will be produced at C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\date_time.log, where date_time are numbers. Please post this log in your next reply.
