I am trying to clean my friend's computer. He is running Windows XP Home SP2
VIRUS ALERT! next to the date on the taskbar
Windows Security pop-up window saying:
"Windows has detected an Internet attack attempt..
Somebody is trying to infect your PC with spyware or harmful viruses.
Run full system scan to protect your PC form Internet attacks, hijaacking attempts and spyware. Click here to download spyware remover for total protection."
There are two suspicious icons (web links) on the desktop:
Spyware & Malware cleaner
Error Protection
Pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del does not work and the window pops up with the following message:
Task Manager has been disabled by your System Administrator
In My Computer I can't see either C: drive or USB drive.
I have tried installing Kasperski and running the overnight full scan. It has fount few trojans and deleted them. Then I have installed and ran Spyware Doctor (Personal). It has found and removed few more entries.
Tried to run Smitfraudfix, rebooted but no luck either.
Everything is damn slow and hanging. I have problem even running Hijackthis.
