Hi abeath

  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hi

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  1. Close all applications and windows.
  2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  3. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
  4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt to your post.

:( I followed all the instructions but after about 20 minutes into the kaspersky it fails. It tells me to close wndow and try again which I have done but fails again.

Edit to include that I tried again and this is what happens.

-> Updating the database ( %)

Update size
Transfrred size

Then box comes up saying
Update has failed. Program has failed to start. Close kaspersky online scanner 7.0 window and open it again to install program.

t says ERROR: Download timeout.

Hi

Great :)

Empty this folder:

C:\Deckard\System Scanner\backup\Users\Astrid\AppData\Local\Temp\

Delete these:

C:\Users\Astrid\MediaTubeCodec_ver1.1463.0.exe
C:\Windows\System32\vav.cpl

Empty Recycle Bin.

Still problems?

Hi Shaba,

I can't find C:\Users\Astrid\MediaTubeCodec_ver1.1463.0.exe . I have deleted everything else, but for the life of me can't find this folder.

<sratching head> lol. Followed instructions and boxes were already checked. Did another search and still can't find it. Could it have vanished? just to make sure the folder was C:\Users\Astrid\MediaTubeCodec_ver1.1463.0.exe ?

Hi

OK, we try this then:

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    Code: Select all
    C:\Users\Astrid\MediaTubeCodec_ver1.1463.0.exe

  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to Move" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.
