Ok, be gentle....I'm not highly technical and don't have much hair left to pull out! I am working from my laptop because my main computer is infected with this nasty little bugger. I can't access the internet, or find the xpantivirus processes in the task list or any of the other things that have appeared on some of the suggestions which have cropped up in the google searches I've done attempting to solve this. I've never posted a log and don't know where it is located but I am perfectly bright and if someone will spend the time giving me some simple steps to follow I can hopefully rid myself of this pest. I have a flash drive and have tried installing some solutions from it but everything seems to be blocked. I know the programs are on the drive but they aren't showing up when I move it over to the main machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi undertakerguy,

First please try transferring HijackThis to your main computer and posting a log:

Please download HijackThis from here(right-click the link, select Save Target As..., select your Desktop and press Save):
http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/HJTInstall.exe

Then, copy HJTInstall.exe to your flash drive and copy it to your main computer.
Double-click the program and follow the prompts to install it.
After installing, HijackThis will open automatically.

Select Do a system scan and save a logfile - this will produce a HijackThis log in Notepad.

Save the Notepad file to your flash drive and transfer it back to your notebook.
Open it and post it in a response to this message but please check that Format->Word Wrap is UNchecked. Copy the contents of the log by pressing Ctrl-A then Ctrl-C, then paste it into your response by pressing Ctrl-V.

I will review the log and let you know how to proceed.
If you have problems, please tell me what happened.
