Hi butch57

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  1. Close all applications and windows.
  2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  3. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
  4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt to your post.

Hi

Yes that is fine.

Go to Start > Run
Type regedit and click OK.

  • On the leftside, click to highlight My Computer at the top.
  • Go up to "File > Export"
    • Make sure in that window there is a tick next to "All" under Export Branch.
    • Leave the "Save As Type" as "Registration Files".
    • Under "Filename" put backup
  • Choose to save it to C:\ or in somewhere else safe location so that you will remember where you put it (don't put it on the Desktop!)
  • Click Save and then go to File > Exit.

Open Notepad and copy the contents of the following box to a new file.

Code: Select all
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\lsa]
"Authentication Packages"=hex(7):6d,73,76,31,5f,30,00,00

Save it as fix.reg (save type: "All files" (*.*)) to your desktop.

It should look like this -> Image

Go to Desktop, double-click fix.reg and merge the infomation with the registry.

(In case you are unsure how to create a reg file, take a look here with screenshots.)

Reboot.

Go to start - run

Type del /a /f /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\bLnUDcfe.ini2 and click ok

Re-run dss.

Post a fresh dss log.

Hi Shaba

I couldn't complete this step:
"Go to start - run

Type del /a /f /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\bLnUDcfe.ini2 and click ok"

Got " Windows cannot find 'del'. Make sure you typed the name correctly.

Should that be 'delete' ?

Here is fresh dss log.

Hi

My bad, it should have been

Start - run - cmd - ok - del /a /f /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\bLnUDcfe.ini2 - enter -exit

Please do that and after that this:

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

  1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  4. Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
  5. Click on My Computer under Scan.
  6. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  7. You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  8. Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  9. Please post this log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Hi Shaba

I guess I didn't have enough coffee in me to recognize that "del" was a DOS cmd.

Here we go again.

Hi

Delete these unless you need them:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\GMH\Rapidshare\keyfinder
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\GMH\Rapidshare\keyfinder.rar
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Regina Bay Lodge\mailpv.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Regina Bay Lodge\mailpv_setup.exe

Empty Recycle Bin.

Still problems?

Hi Shaba

I did the deletes and emptied the recycle bin.

Machine seems to be running well, (no strange stuff) THANK YOU!

I have a couple of observations, not annoyances.

When opening a large folder in windows explorer (detail view), the files seem to ripple from bottom to top, also if there are exe programs the correct icon may not appear for a couple of seconds. I suspect that this is AVG8s doing. I know it didn't do this with AVG7.5

Startup is a little slow sometimes, I suspect it is qtime, Nero, HP & java trying to check for updates. I usually try to tell them not to check (if I can find the option).

Hi

Yes it might be AVG8 issue.

As for slow startup, you might consider disabling these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask.exe" -atboottime
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NeroFilterCheck] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib\NeroCheck.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HP Software Update] "C:\Program Files\HP\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd2.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\bin\jusched.exe"
O4 - Global Startup: HP Digital Imaging Monitor.lnk = C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqtra08.exe

Any other issues?

Hi Shaba

I forgot to mention that I access the internet thru a router. It is a linksys SRX400. I have changed the router name and password from the factory defaults. I looked around in the router and saw nothing amiss.

Not having any problems!

Big THANKS
