Hi con0627,

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.
Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%\SDFix
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please print/save a copy of the following instructions because we will be using Safe Mode, during which time you won't have access to the internet.

Now reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder (usually Start->My Computer->C:->SDFix and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop (right-click the link, select Save Target As..., select your Desktop and press Save)
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  • When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
  • Make sure Format->Word Wrap is unchecked
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your reply

Once complete, please post the SDFix report and both DSS logs, you won't need to produce a new HijackThis log as DSS produces one for you.

Hi con0627,

Please open Start->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs, and remove the following:
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3
Java(TM) 6 Update 2
Java(TM) 6 Update 3
Java(TM) 6 Update 5
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1
Monopoly v2.00.101 Crack - By Maggot Brain
Piolet 1.9.9
Piolet is adware and the Monopoly crack is malware-related and probably illegal.
The Java installations are out of date and now a security risk, you can get the latest update (Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6) from here

You have a program called NoAdware installed on your computer. This program was until recently classified as a Rogue antispyware program. Typically, rogue programs do not provide any security benefits, and use false positives to goad users into purchasing a full version of the program. Due to it's tainted history, and the availability of more reputable programs for free, I strongly suggest you remove it - NoAdware can be uninstalled via Add/Remove Programs

You have BitTorrent, a P2P file sharing program installed on your computer. This program does not come bundled with malware as some similar programs do, but peer-to-peer file sharing networks are one of the biggest sources of malware we see. Anything downloaded from them cannot be trusted to be clean, because even if the file appears to be what it claims to be, it can have malware embedded in it.
I strongly recommend you remove BitTorrent via Add/Remove Programs.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, open HijackThis, choose Do a system scan only and place a checkmark next to the following lines:
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = \blank.htm
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {526E37B9-B817-4DD4-A243-D37C40AA1017} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtsqrOf.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [fc7a95f0] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\qsxbhbyk.dll",b
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [NoAdware5] "C:\Program Files\NoAdware5.0\NoAdware5.exe" :Min: <-- only if you removed NoAdware as above
Then close all open windows apart from HijackThis, press Fix checked, OK the prompt and close HijackThis.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Make hidden/system files and folders visible:
Click Start -> My Computer
Select the Tools menu, click Folder Options and select the View tab
Under the Hidden files and folders heading SELECT Show hidden files and folders
UNCHECK the Hide extensions for known file types option
UNCHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option
Click Yes to confirm and press OK

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Use Windows Explorer (right-click Start, select Explore) to find and delete the following files:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\qsxbhbyk.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\fOrqstwa.ini2
C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtsqrOf.dll

If you removed NoAdware, then also delete this folder:
C:\Program Files\NoAdware5.0

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next press Start->Run, copy/paste the following command (it's one long command) into the box and press OK:
cmd /c dir "c:\docume~1\family\locals~1\temp\tpcmcia.sys" /a /s >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look.txt" 2>>&1
A black box will open and a file will appear on your Desktop called look.txt.
Post the contents of look.txt in your next response.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Backup Your Registry:
  • Download ERUNT to your Desktop (right-click the link, select Save Target As..., select your Desktop and press Save)
  • Right-click erunt.zip, choose Extract All... and follow the prompts to unzip the program
  • Open the erunt folder on your Desktop and double-click ERUNT.exe to start the program
  • OK all the prompts to back up your registry to the default location.
Note: if it is necessary to restore the registry, open the backup folder and start ERDNT.exe

Then, open Notepad (press Start->Run, enter notepad and press OK)
Copy everything inside the code box below (Starting with REGEDIT4) and paste it into a new notepad file.
Note: Please copy and paste all the text at once, and check that there is NO blank line above REGEDIT4 and one blank line at the bottom.
Code: Select all
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\lsa]
"Authentication Packages"=hex(7):6d,73,76,31,5f,30,00,00

Select File and Save as
Save it to your Desktop as "fix.reg" (you MUST type the quotes)
Locate fix.reg on your Desktop, if you did it right it should look like this:Image
Double-click it, when it asks if you want to merge with the registry, click Yes.
You can then delete fix.reg

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please open this page in your browser:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/submit- ... channel=32

Fill in the link to topic field with a link to this topic
Copy/paste the following into the Browse to the file you want to submit field:
C:\SDFix\backups\backups.zip
Then press Send File, this will upload the file for analysis
Then, repeat for this file:
C:\Program Files\DirectX.ini

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, make a new main.txt with DSS:
  • Make sure DSS.exe is on your Desktop
  • Press the Start->Run, copy/paste the following command into the box and press OK:
    "%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /config
  • A configuration box will appear, make sure all boxes are checked in the Main Log section, then un-check everything in the Extra Log section and press Scan!

Once complete, please post the look.txt output and the new DSS main.txt report.

Hi Mike,

Don't worry about the file that isn't present and we'll remove the stubborn file a different way.
Please complete the instructions and post the logs - if you have any further difficulty let me know.

Hi con0627,

i hope i did every thing right...
Everything appears to have been done perfectly :)

why have my mail and web scanner files show missing, for avast...
HijackThis isn't always correct when it shows (file missing) so that isn't anything to worry about.

what is a good spyware program, since noadware is a bad one...
We will be doing a scan with an excellent antispyware program shortly which would be a good replacement for this.

Now we'll try and remove that stubborn file:

  • Open HijackThis and choose Open the Misc Tools section
  • Click the Delete a file on reboot... button
  • Copy/paste this file and path into the box and press Open:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\qsxbhbyk.dll
  • When asked to reboot now, say Yes

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Backup Your Registry:
  • Download ERUNT to your Desktop (right-click the link, select Save Target As..., select your Desktop and press Save)
  • Right-click erunt.zip, choose Extract All... and follow the prompts to unzip the program
  • Open the erunt folder on your Desktop and double-click ERUNT.exe to start the program
  • OK all the prompts to back up your registry to the default location.
Note: if it is necessary to restore the registry, open the backup folder and start ERDNT.exe

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Open Notepad: press Start->Run, type notepad into the box and press OK
Select Format from the top menu and make sure Word Wrap is NOT checked.
Then, copy/paste the contents of the following code box into Notepad:
Code: Select all
@echo off
attrib -s -h -r "C:\WINDOWS\system32\qsxbhbyk.dll" >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look2.txt" 2>>&1
del /q /a /f "C:\WINDOWS\system32\qsxbhbyk.dll" >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look2.txt"
dir "C:\WINDOWS\system32\qsxbhbyk.dll" /a >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look2.txt" 2>>&1
sc stop tpcmcia >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look2.txt" 2>>&1
sc delete tpcmcia >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look2.txt" 2>>&1
reg delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser" /v "{C75C8E7E-5059-4469-AC11-D7544B260382}" /f >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look2.txt" 2>>&1
reg delete "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{C75C8E7E-5059-4469-AC11-D7544B260382}" /f >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look2.txt" 2>>&1
del runme.bat

Select File and Save as
Save it to your Desktop as "runme.bat" (you MUST type the quotes)
Locate runme.bat on your Desktop and double-click it.
A black box should open and close after a short time, this is normal.
Another text file should appear on your Desktop called look2.txt, do not open it until the black box has closed.
Post the contents of this file in your next response.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Clean with MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
  • Please download the Installer to your Desktop from here:
    http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to both of these options:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform Quick Scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When finished, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to your Desktop, and post the contents in your reply.
  • The log can also be found here if you need it:
    • Start->All Programs->Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware->Logs

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once complete, please post the look2.txt output, the MalwareBytes Antimalware report and a new HijackThis log.

Hi con0627,

That looks good, how is your machine running now?

Open the ESET Online Scanner in Internet Explorer
  • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use. and click Start
  • Allow the ActiveX control to be installed by Internet Explorer
  • Once the ActiveX has finished loading click Start to initialize and update the scanner
  • When the Computer scan screen appears, leave Remove found threats UN-checked, but check the box next to Scan unwanted applications. Then click Scan to begin the scan.
  • Once complete and the summary page appears, press Start->Run, copy/paste the following command into the box and press OK:
    notepad "C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt"
  • The log file should now appear in Notepad, copy and paste the contents in your next response.

Once complete, please post the Eset scan log and a new HijackThis log. Also, let me know how your machine is running now.
