I don't know how this just downloaded, but i was re-directed to a website, then got the blue screen of death, and then this showed up. After reading everyone's experience with this. I just want to rid of it ASAP if possible. I already download HiJackThis and ran it, as i noticed in other threads this was requested.

Here are my results:

Hi Downset,

You appear to have no antivirus software running. Without antivirus software your computer is very vulnerable and can easily be infected at any time so it it is essential you have one active at all times.

There are several free packages available, two of the most popular are here:
Antivir: http://www.free-av.com/
Avast!: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

If you have no antivirus program then download and install one immediately, update the definitions and set it to update automatically.
Please ensure you have one antivirus program installed before continuing

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop (right-click the link, select Save Target As..., select your Desktop and press Save)
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  • When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
  • Make sure Format->Word Wrap is unchecked
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your reply

Once complete, please post both DSS logs, you won't need to produce a new HijackThis log as DSS produces one for you.

Hi,

So sorry it's taken me so long to reply back. I've been away since last Thursday.

I did manage to download a firewall, virus protection, and got a copy of Spyware Doctor; which claims to be able to remove Antivirus XP.

With everything it's seemed to make things better, and the firewall blocks it from running. But I'm sure it's still there, and possibly done something I don't know how to reverse.

As far as Deckard's goes. I download and ran it, but the first time I had many windows open. So I tried running it again, with them all closed as you instructed(a few times). But now it's not opening the extra.txt... Only the main.txt.

But if it helps I can still post that.

Hi Downset,

What symptoms are you experiencing now that makes you think it's still present?

The second time you run DSS the report is smaller, please make new full reports as follows:
  • Make sure DSS.exe is on your Desktop
  • Press the Start->Run, copy/paste the following command into the box and press OK:
    "%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /config
  • A configuration box will appear, make sure all boxes are checked in all sections and press Scan!

Once complete, please post the new DSS main.txt and extra.txt reports.

Well it isn't doing anything that seems too malicious anymore. I can change my background again, and open internet browsers etc. after blocking it from running. But it's still showing the files, and trying to open on occasion. So for some reason I'm having to block the file from opening many different times.

But here it is re-ran:

Unread postby silver » July 1st, 2008, 10:56 pm

Hi Downset,

Please open Start->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs, and remove the following:
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9
Java(TM) 6 Update 5
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1
These are out of date and now a security risk, you can get the latest update (Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6) from here

You have BitTornado and LimeWire, P2P file sharing programs installed on your computer. These programs do not come bundled with malware as some similar programs do, but peer-to-peer file sharing networks are one of the biggest sources of malware we see. Anything downloaded from them cannot be trusted to be clean, because even if the file appears to be what it claims to be, it can have malware embedded in it.
I strongly recommend you remove these via Add/Remove Programs.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now open HijackThis, select Open the Misc Tools section
Press the Open Uninstall Manager... button
Scroll down the list and find this entry:
AntivirXP08
Click it to highlight it, then press Delete this entry
Then close HijackThis

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Backup Your Registry:
  • Download ERUNT to your Desktop (right-click the link, select Save Target As..., select your Desktop and press Save)
  • Right-click erunt.zip, choose Extract All... and follow the prompts to unzip the program
  • Open the erunt folder on your Desktop and double-click ERUNT.exe to start the program
  • OK all the prompts to back up your registry to the default location.
Note: if it is necessary to restore the registry, open the backup folder and start ERDNT.exe

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please download OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer to your Desktop (right-click the link, select Save Target As..., select your Desktop and press Save)
  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to start the program.
  • Copy the lines in the OTMoveIt file list below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):
    OTMoveIt File List:
    Code: Select all
    C:\DOCUME~1\brandon\LOCALS~1\Temp\vCeJ.exe
    C:\Program Files\rhceofj0enea
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\lphcaofj0enea.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\pphcaofj0enea.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\brandon\Application Data\rhceofj0enea
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\blphcaofj0enea.scr
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\system\\NoDispBackgroundPage
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\system\\NoDispScrSavPage
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\\BitTorrent
    EmptyTemp
  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to Move" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Then click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of it and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • If OTMoveIt asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report will appear in Notepad after the reboot.
  • Close OTMoveIt2

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Clean with MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
  • Please download the Installer to your Desktop from here:
    http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to both of these options:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform Quick Scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When finished, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to your Desktop, and post the contents in your reply.
  • The log can also be found here if you need it:
    • Start->All Programs->Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware->Logs

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once complete, please post the OTMoveIt report, the MalwareBytes Antimalware report and a new HijackThis log.

Thanks again silver for everything. You guys taking time out of each of your days to help us folks is widely appreciated. I feel much better about my computers safety now. I think I'm gonna take your advice and remove the p2p software as well.

You're most welcome Downset :) good idea about removing the P2P software, it's very dangerous nowadays so it will improve your security greatly.

Please open the ESET Online Scanner in Internet Explorer
  • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use. and click Start
  • Allow the ActiveX control to be installed by Internet Explorer
  • Once the ActiveX has finished loading click Start to initialize and update the scanner
  • When the Computer scan screen appears, leave Remove found threats UN-checked, but check the box next to Scan unwanted applications. Then click Scan to begin the scan.
  • Once complete and the summary page appears, press Start->Run, copy/paste the following command into the box and press OK:
    notepad "C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt"
  • The log file should now appear in Notepad, copy and paste the contents in your next response.

Once complete, please post the Eset report and a new HijackThis log.
Also, let me know how your computer is running now.
