Stoltzy,

You have a number of infections.
-----------------------------------------------------------
The use of Incredimail opens your system to attacks, and in the User Agreement, claims permanent ownership of everything sent thru their mail service.
See full article here: http://www.langa.com/newsletters/2002/2002-10-10.htm#6
Later, the instructions will proceed as if you would like to remove it.

Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode. We will go for removal of the Vundo infection first.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Download and install CCleaner from here.
Don't run CCleaner yet.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
You will first be presented with a warning.
It should look like this
VundoFix V2.13 by Atri
By using VundoFix you agree that you are doing so at your own risk
Press enter to continue....

At this point press enter one time.
Next you will see:
Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.

At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):C:\WINNT\system32\mlljg.dll

Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
Next you will see:
Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.

At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
    C:\WINNT\system32\gjllm.*
This will be the vundo filename spelled backwards; for example if the vundo dll was vundo.dll you would enter odnuv.*
Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.

The fix will run, then HijackThis will open.
In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:
    O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {52B1DFC7-AAFC-4362-B103-868B0683C697} - C:\WINNT\system32\mlljg.dll
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: mlljg - C:\WINNT\system32\mlljg.dll
    O15 - Trusted Zone: *.incmail.exe
    O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.manhunt.net

After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!
Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Run CCleaner.
Click on Options, Select Advanced. Now UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours"
Make sure the Cleaner block on the left is selected. Choose the Windows tab. (Note: Do not use the "Issues" section)
Check everything EXCEPT cookies, the Autocomplete Form History and the Advanced part of the Menu.
Choose Run Cleaner. This process could take a while.
When CCleaner shows how much has been removed, cleaning is finished. Click Exit.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Stoltzy,

Let's try this again with Spysweeper disabled. We didn't get it first time.
Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Set Your Computer to Show All Files
Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. In addition, if you have Windows XP, go to Start, Search. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Disable SpySweeper
- Open it, Click Options over on the left, then Program options
- Uncheck load at windows startup.
- Over to the left, Click shields and Uncheck all there.
- Uncheck home page shield.
- Uncheck automatically restore default without notification.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Reboot your computer into Safe Mode.

At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
C:\WINNT\system32\mlljg.dll
Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
Next you will see:
Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.

At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
C:\WINNT\system32\gjllm.*

After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!
Once your machine reboots (Let it boot into Normal Mode) please continue with the instructions below.

To Askey 127...problem with VundoFix

Unread postby Stoltzy » October 10th, 2005, 10:25 pm

Hello!

I had a problem wth KillVundo.bat. At the second part where I enter:
c:\WNNT\system32\gjllm.*

A message came up that it was unknown and to input the correct path. I re-input several time with no luck. Any ideas?

Thanks very much for your time...much appreciated!

stoltzy,
-----------------------------------------------------------
Set Your Computer to Show All Files
Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. In addition, if you have Windows XP, go to Start, Search. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Start Your Computer in Safe Mode.
Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly as the machine boots, until a menu shows up. Choose Safe Mode from the list. In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Extra instructions are here if you need them.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Remove log items with HighjackThis. Start HijackThis. If the opening screen shows, choose None of the above, just start the program.
Click Scan. When the Scan is complete, Check the following entries:
(Some of these lines may be missing)
O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {52B1DFC7-AAFC-4362-B103-868B0683C697} - C:\WINNT\system32\mlljg.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: mlljg - C:\WINNT\system32\mlljg.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Management Instrumentation] C:\WINNT\system32\mwd.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSCORE] C:\WINNT\Fonts\font2\syscnfg.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MicrosoftValue] C:\WINNT\Fonts\font2\syscnfg.exe

Make sure all other windows except HJT are closed, and Click Fix Checked.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Run Windows Cleanup.
Go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.
Right click the Recycle Bin icon and Empty the Recycle Bin
Now, in Windows Explorer, delete all the files in the following folders. Please do NOT delete the folders themselves, just all the files that they contain.
C:\Windows\Prefetch\
C:\Windows\Temp\
C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temp\
C:\Documents and Settings\<All other users Profile>\Local Settings\Temp\
C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\
C:\Documents and Settings\<All other users Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\

-----------------------------------------------------------
File and Folder Deletion.
In Windows Explorer, navigate to these files. Then Delete these files, if present:
C:\WINNT\system32\mlljg.dll
C:\WINNT\system32\gjllm.ini
C:\WINNT\system32\gjllm.dll
C:\WINNT\system32\gjllm.bak
C:\WINNT\system32\gjllm.ini
C:\WINNT\system32\gjllm.tmp
C:\WINNT\system32\gjllm.exe
C:\WINNT\system32\mwd.exe
C:\WINNT\Fonts\font2\syscnfg.exe

If you see any other files named gjllm or mlljg with any other file extension, delete it (them) also.
If you have any problem deleting a file, right click the file and check Properties to see if it's read-only. Uncheck the read-only box, click Apply and OK. Then retry Delete.
Note the name and location of any file you cannot delete.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Post a New HJT Log
Reboot your computer into Normal mode. Start HijackThis. Click Do System Scan and Save a Log File.
When the Scan is complete, select the whole log (Ctrl-A), copy and paste the log contents in a reply. Please do not use Notepad's Word Wrap when you paste in the reply.
Thanks

To Askey 127...the latest...

Unread postby Stoltzy » October 11th, 2005, 11:10 am

Hello....I couldn't find many of the files you wanted deleted...perhaps they were already gone? The Winfixer doesn't appear when I boot, but when I right click on a folder, I see "Scan with Winantispyware 2005"... I guess it's still in my system?

Thanks...Stoltzy

Stoltzy,
-----------------------------------------------------------
Use Add/Remove Programs In Control Panel
From Start,Settings,Control Panel or Start,Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.
Highlight the following entry, if it still exists, and choose Remove :
Incredimail
Take extra care in answering any questions posed by the uninstaller. Some questions may be worded to deceive you into choosing to keep the program.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Stop, Disable and Delete A Service
Go to Start, Run OR Start, Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt and type Services.msc and click OK.
Under the Extended Tab, Scroll down and find the service. The service name is the item in Parentheses in the O23 line.
Gates
Click once on the service to highlight it. Click Stop
Right-Click on the service. Click onProperties
Select the General tab. Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side at the Start-up Type box.
From the drop-down menu, click on Disabled
Click the Apply tab, then click OK
-----------------------------------------------------------
Submit a file to Jotti
Please go here :
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
On top of the page there is a field to add the filepath, copy and paste this filepath:
C:\WINNT\System32\BillG.exe
and hit "Submit"
The scan will take a while before the result comes up so please be patient.
Then copy the result and post it here in this thread.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Remove log items with HighjackThis. Start HijackThis. If the opening screen shows, choose None of the above, just start the program.
Click Scan. When the Scan is complete, Check the following entries:
(Some of these lines may be missing)
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Add animation to IncrediMail Style Box - C:\PROGRA~1\INCRED~1\bin\resources\WebMenuImg.htm
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://207.188.7.150/3147d78b237ac6342f ... xIE601.cab
O16 - DPF: {F00F4763-7355-4725-82F7-0DA94A256D46} (IncrediMail) - http://www5.incredimail.com/contents/se ... loader.cab

Make sure all other windows except HJT are closed, and Click Fix Checked.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Folder Deletion.
In Windows Explorer, Find and Delete these folder(s), if present:
c:\program Files\Incredimail\
Note if you cannot delete.
You may have to delete all the underlying files and folders before a target folder can be deleted.
If you have any problem deleting a file, right click the file and check Properties to see if it's read-only. Uncheck the read-only box, click Apply and OK. Then retry Delete.
Note the name and location of any file you cannot delete.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Post a New HJT Log
Reboot your computer. Start HijackThis. Click Do System Scan and Save a Log File.
When the Scan is complete, select the whole log (Ctrl-A), copy and paste the log contents in a reply, along with the Jotti File report..

To Askey 127...question before I delete Incredimail...

Unread postby Stoltzy » October 11th, 2005, 6:04 pm

Sorry to go back and fourth. You suggested deleting my Incredimail program. From what I know, other e-mail programs including outlook express can transfer viruses, etc. Therefore, can you suggest another program that I should use?

I read the weblink about Incredimail looking at my e-mails, etc...Hm. But don't the other's do that? HELP!

Thanks!!!

Stoltzy,
No other e-mail program I know of claims to OWN everything sent thru it.
This means if you attach a document or .exe file, you are conferring full ownership rights to those files, just by using their service.

If you want to keep it that is certainly up to you, I only advise.
Just bypass the Incredimail portions of the instructions.
A lot of people like Thunderbird. There are others.

Let me know when the rest of the process is complete.
Thanks

Stoltzy,
-----------------------------------------------------------
File Deletion.
In Windows Explorer, navigate to this file. Then Delete this file, if present:
C:\WINNT\System32\BillG.exe
If you have any problem deleting a file, right click the file and check Properties to see if it's read-only. Uncheck the read-only box, click Apply and OK. Then retry Delete.
Note if you cannot delete it.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Copy/paste the following quote box into a new notepad (not wordpad) document.

regedit /e startup.txt "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*"
notepad startup.txt
del /q startup.txt

Save it to your Desktop as filename look.bat. Save as File Type "All Files" (not as a text document or it won't work).

Locate look.bat on your Desktop and double-click it. When notepad opens, copy/paste the entire content in your reply.
When you close Notepad, the CMD window will close automatically and the file will be deleted.
