Image & Welcome to

I would be glad to help you with your computer problems. :)

HijackThis logs take awhile to research. Please be patient with me. I know that you want your problems solved quicky, and I will work hard to help you.

Please observe these rules while we work:

1. If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
2. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

If you can do those two things, everything should go smoothly

Image

Please download the newest version of HijackThis here

  • Unzip HJT to it's own folder such as 'C:\HJT\'
  • Run HijackThis
  • Choose Do a system scan and save a logfile
  • After HJT performs its scan, you will be presented with the log (in notepad)
  • Press CTRL+A (this will select ALL of the text)
  • Press CTRL+C (this will copy all of that text)
  • Come to this thread and press CTRL+V to paste the full log.

Hi

We'll need to move HiJackThis.exe out of a temporary directory and into a directory of its own, preferably C:\HJT (creating the folder if necessary).

The reason behind this is that HJT creates backups of every "fix" we do in the folder it's running in. If we happen to "fix" something and need it later on, there is a very good chance that, by that time, that TEMP directory could be purged and our backups would be lost.

If you need a detailed tutorial or just a better explanation as to why, please Look Here

Please move HJT to its own directory and repost your complete log.

Thanks

Hi

Thanks for your reply. From the new log you have posted HJT is scanning at startup, and that is the reason for the short logs.

You need to stop HJT doing that. The following instructions will change a setting in HJT to stop it doing that:

  • Open Hijack this
  • Press Do A System Scan and Save A Log
  • Press Config
  • In Main Tab, Make sure there is no check mark (tick) Next To Run Hijack This scan at startup and show it when items are found
  • Press Back
  • Press Scan
  • Once the scan is complete Press Save Log, Your notepad will open.
  • Copy the log amd paste back here

You will now notice the log is a lot longer. If you need to see how long a log should be take a look at one of the other threads in the Malware removal section of this forum.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Regards

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

Here is a image of the config section with the relevant boxes tick

Image

Also if there is any backups made from previous fix using HJT they need to be re installed.

The follow image show the screen you need:

Image

After you have made any changes to you HJT settings. Do a new scan and can you copy/paste a new log back here so we can see it has given us a full log.

Many thanks

I really dont whats happening with my hijack this log it could be that i deleted alot of backups awhile ago cause i didnt have a virus at that time.
I could delete my current hijack this and get a new copy but i doubt that would work. has misc tools got anything to do with it?

HI

There is nothing in Misc tools which could causing this.

you could try this

    Start, Run

In dialogue box, type the following

    hijackthis.exe /ihatewhitelists

    Then press enter

This will open HJT, now try and see if you get a full log.

Also just one question, Are you running a scan in safe mode, if you are i would advise against it, as this will give a shorter processes section of the log.

If that does not work you could try re-downloading it and re installing.
