My apology,
Disable them first first then pick up the fix again all the way through.
It won't harm a mail to them if we still run into the same problem.
see how it goes this time.

Okay. I disabled everything like you said, booted in safe mode and ran dial-a-fix. The same errors came up and this time Flush DNS wasn't present. I went to install Sp2 while in safe mode and it gave me the same error once it got to the install screen.

"Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf Make sure Cryptographic Service is running on this computer."

I've gotten this error before and I've checked my Cryptographic, which was running.

Well I think it's time to hand things over to microsoft, I would of liked to of seen a happy conclusion but I've gone as far as I'm able. You have already dropped them a mail to the makers of the fix program, let me know if you get a responce.
Are you still able to use pc as before as I know you were a litle concerned?
I'm not on my pc at the moment but I will post in the morning with regards some additional security for the pc. Make sure you have enabled your security and antimalware programs before venturing on the net. :)

I did that in normal and safe mode. I disabled all my spyware and stuff, disconnected form the net and rebooted into safe mode. Dial-a-fix still produced the same errors as it did in normal mode. When I ran it in normal mode, all my protection was on and the internet was connected. I haven't gotten any email back yet about those errors.

So far my computer seems to be running fine. My biggest concern with all this was mostly the keylogger. Of course whenever I'm doing something like this to my computer, I'm worried something will break. I'd hate to have my computer not start up or the internet not work, etc.

It's running like it has been, issues and all that with the updates. You said my Hijackthis looked clean of keyloggers right? I went and got some of that anti keylogger stuff just in case. I have noscript for firefox, keyscrambler for my browers and messengers. The snoopfree thing is supposed to tell me when something tries to record keystrokes, take screenshots of my screen etc. It blocks the process until I tell it to either continue to block it or allow it.

If you want me to I can post another HJT log. Then you can just double check to make sure I'm clean of keyloggers at least. If I do have one, it will show up on a HJT log right?

I haven't done the microsoft thing yet. Do I just follow that link you fixed earlier? I was waiting for you to give me some directions before I went off and did something else.

Here is a new HJT log for you. I know you will probably check it for this and then some. But I'm still mostly worried about keyloggers/things that effect my internet connectivity and such. But keyloggers is the big one as it makes me feel like I'm open to attacks on my accounts. I'm also worried that it won't show on the HJT log or it will be overlooked/missed.

I noticed my Hijackthis log bytes are higher then my last one. But I haven't installed anything new since Keyscrambler pro and snoopfree. I believe those were already accounted for in my last log. I don't remember installing anything after those at least. Maybe dial-a-fix did something. I have no clue how to read a HJT log though. So I'll just wait for your word on it.

I haven't done the microsoft thing yet. Do I just follow that link you fixed earlier?

Yes.

I can see no signs of keyloggers in your log or at any period that I've been working your log, I woud be more concerned to get sp2 up and running on your system, to give you added security.
You have given yourself plenty of protection in regards to this which should give you some piece of mind.

Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present)

O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED Click on Fix Checked and exit

Right click start, In the drop down menu click "Explore" Then navigate to each file\ folder in the left hand pane, which will reveal its content in the right hand pane, highlight file or folder right click and Delete, if present:

C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm << This file

post me a further log to check all went ok

You can delete the wareout folder and dialafix now

Well done! and thanks for sticking with it.

Congratulations you are clean! :)
Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Create a new System Restore Point
This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:
  • Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
  • Select Create a restore point, and Ok it.
  • Next, go to Start > Run and type in cleanmgr
  • Select the More options tab
  • Choose the option to clean up system restore and OK it.
This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.

Here are some free programs I recommend that could help you improve your computer's security.

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.5.2
Download it from here. Just choose a mirror and off you go.
Find here the tutorial on how to use Spybot properly here
Find here changes from older version 1.4 here

Install Spyware Guard
Download it from here
Find here the tutorial on how to use Spyware Guard here

Install SpyWare Blaster
Download it from here
Find here the tutorial on how to use Spyware Blaster here

Install WinPatrol
Download it from here
Here you can find information about how WinPatrol works here

Install FireTrust SiteHound
You can find information and download it from here

Install MVPS Hosts File from here
The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
Find Tutorial here : http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

Update your Antivirus programs and other security products regularly to avoid new threats that could infect your system.
You can use one of these sites to check if any updates are needed for your pc.
Secunia Software Inspector
F-secure Health Check

Visit Microsoft often to get the latest updates for your computer.
http://www.update.microsoft.com

Please check out Tony Klein's article "How did I get infected in the first place?"

Read some information here how to prevent Malware.

Please take the time to tell us what you would like to be done about the people who are behind all the problems you have had. We can only get something done about this if the people that we help, like you, are prepared to complain. We have a dedicated forum for collecting these complaints called Malware Complaints. Thanks a lot for the help Dan! I just have a few questions regarding protection and what not. Currently my Kaspersky is just the trail version and I don't plan on spending $80 for it, maybe sometime in the future. Would you recommend I let the run until it expires or uninstall it now and get different free protection?

As for protection. I used ZoneAlarm Firewall and Avast! Anti Virus before Kaspersky. Is there anything you'd recommend to replace Kaspersky with when the time comes?

Also, I know some programs conflict with each other. Kaspersky made me uninstall Avast and ZoneAlarm before it'd install. So if you could recommend things that won't have problems with each other, or directions on how to install it so they will work together. Then that'd be great. I'll be getting everything else you already listed. So I believe I'll just need a new Anti Virus and firewall.

If the cleanmgr fails to run again. Should I just turn off system restore to get rid of the restore points, turn it back on and make a fresh one?

As for the Windows update. I haven't gotten a chance to do the Microsoft thing yet. I will sometime in the morning hopefully after I'm sleep is in me.

Hi Dreemerz, Well, it all depends. If I were picking out a paid one, I would have to say Kaspersky, which I presently run. Nod32 would be my second choice.
In my view, I don't think it is so much a case of the paid AVs having more functionality than the free AVs as it is a case of how fast the definitions for new infections are available. Kaspersky is usually extremely quick in bringing out definitions for new infections and has excellent heuristics as well.
One thing a\v's don't like is other a\v's so you only want one a\v and one firewall installed on your system otherwise thy will fight for resources and create slow downs.
If you follow my Instruction for system restore you should be ok as long as you turn system restore back on again after the restore points have been flushed.
I hope your Issues get resolved with microsoft and your able to obtain your updates soon.
Hope that has helped some.
Regards dan :)

So when Kaspersky runs out should I just go back to ZoneAlarm firewall and Avast! Anti Virus? I'll probably end up buying Kaspersky in the future. But right now I don't have the money to put out for it. I'm going to let it run for the trial though, since I have about 25 days left on it.
