Thanks for the reply Dan, Looks like we're nearly getting there! That last scan only seemed to find a few virus's present. They are certainly difficult to get rid of thats for sure. You guys must know what you are doing.

Thanks for all your help so far.

Firstly can I ask if spyware doctor came bundled with an a\v as two a\v's on the same system won't play well together.
You have AVG7 but can also see "CA\Etrust Antivirus" not that it's active can you let me know about this.

Ok, Things look a lot better. going to clear up a tool I've used first.

UNINSTALL COMBOFIX

  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK.
  • Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
  • Image
You can also delete any logs we have produced, and empty your Recycle bin.

Close all windows and try typing this command directly in and see if ComboFix runs.

Remember to use the " marks and there is a space between exe" and /killall

Start > Run > type "%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe" /killall

If ComboFix runs, please post the log.

Re: Trojan Horse Infection

Hi Dan, with regard to the Antivirus programmes, AVG7 is the main installed prog, Etrust came bundled with the PC from new but as you stated is inactive.

I purchased Spy Doctor the other day in an attempt to solve my spyware problems. (which it didnt!!!) I paid an extra 10 quid for the antivirus bolt on, but it didnt install it.

With having AVG 7, it was probably for the best.

I shall respond shortly with you last set of instructions

Thanks

Dan

Please can you repeat the instructions for the uninstall of Combo Fix. I dont understand them.

It seems to have commands for running the program but not to uninstall it. Are they correct?

Thanks
Dan

Thanks for letting me know about the a\v just as long as there is not two running side by side by that I mean active together as they will fight for resources.

Ok, as for combo carry out this bit first:

UNINSTALL COMBOFIX

  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK.
  • Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
  • Image
You can also delete any logs we have produced, and empty your Recycle bin.

___________________

Now carry out this and it wont allow you to open up combo, it's just a test for me to tell me it's off your system. If it should run a scan I know it's not been removed. Hope that helps

Close all windows and try typing this command directly in and see if ComboFix runs.

Remember to use the " marks and there is a space between exe" and /killall

Start > Run > type "%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe" /killall

If ComboFix runs, please post the log.

:)

Hi, from Liz's account:

Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present)

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSServer] rundll32.exe C:\DOCUME~1\LIZMAR~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\hgGXPGWo.dll,#1
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [srTkeCy5kO] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ivovujuj\ehalibwp.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [cmds] rundll32.exe C:\DOCUME~1\LIZMAR~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\iifdcAtQ.dll,c

WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED Click on Fix Checked and exit

Post me a further HJT log from this accout. let me know if that stopped the popup The files it's asking for are not there as we took them out.
but the 04 lines remained in the account.

dan :)
