Ok, I need to see if it's still showing first.

Retrieve the Installed Programs List from CCleaner
Open CCleaner if it's not already running.
In the Left Pane, click Tools
Verify that Uninstall is highlighted in color, or click on it.
In the lower Right, click Save to Text File.
Pull down the arrow at the top of the Save dialog and choose Desktop as the location.
You can leave the filename as install.txt
Click Save
Exit CCleaner by clicking on the X button in the upper right of the CCleaner window.
post me the text

We need to reveal system folders
  • Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
  • Double-click on the My Computer icon.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options
  • After the new window appears select the View tab.
  • Place a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders
  • Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders
  • Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types
  • Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files
  • Press the Apply and then the ok button and shut down my computer
  • Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.
  • For you and the tools to be able to see appropriate files we need to Show Hidden Files

Right click start, In the drop down menu click "Explore" Then navigate to each file\ folder in the left hand pane, which will reveal its content in the right hand pane, highlight file or folder right click and Delete, if present:

c:\programfiles\Adobe\Adobe Reader 8.1.1 << make sure its not the latest update

let me know if you found it and if you were able to delete it.

All previous versions before this update of "Adobe Reader 8.1.2" can go.
All previous versions before this update of "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 5" can go

It's always best to try via add and remove in control panel first using the uninstallers.
note which versions your not able to uninstall via this method, we know of one, which we hope to address soon.

That seems to have done the trick Dan. Is that it all done? If so many thanks, the whole machine is running a lot faster now.

Out of curiosity, is there any of those programs that i should run occasionally to clean up the PC?

This program used with out supervision could nuke your system so wouldn't recommend to keep it.

UNINSTALL COMBOFIX

  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK.
  • Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
  • Image
You can also delete any logs we have produced, and empty your Recycle bin.

Close all windows and try typing this command directly in and see if ComboFix runs.

Remember to use the " marks and there is a space between exe" and /killall

Start > Run > type "%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe" /killall

If ComboFix runs, please post the log.

Right click start, In the drop down menu click "Explore" Then navigate to each file\ folder in the left hand pane, which will reveal its content in the right hand pane, highlight file or folder right click and Delete, if present:

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\022203~1.EXE

As it's been a few days can I see a new HJT log
as things change on a daily basis.
