Can you try downloading an older version from here and try installing it, if that works we will then down load the latest and install, then remove the older version

try this first Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.1
if no luck try an older version.

see how you go.

Thanks but the same thing happened.

My computer has been acting very strange lately like it was before you helped me fix it, its very sluggish and crashes allot. One thing that happens is the bottom windows sign becomes like the widows 98 version for like 20 seconds then changes back.

Also i notice there is still a java in my control panel, but when i click on it wont open.

thanks,

Ok, just make sure you place it in C:\QooBox when you download it!

  • Download CF-DeQuarantine.exe and place it in C:\QooBox
  • Drag/Drop the following into CF-DeQuarantine.exe
    C:\Program Files\Java

let me know how it goes!

Ok, what I'm going to try is to download the update, install then we will delete the older version.
So if you could try the download again and see how it goes.
Just for my information did the tool I gave you strip the file extension which get attached, once they get put in qoobox?
Let me know how it goes.

Sorry the tool being "CF-DeQuarantine.exe" and the file ext cf gives when quarantined .vir so the original file would have now a double ext.I wanted to know if .vir ext had been removed.
As for java I'm going to dig a little deeper :)

Hi, Stewy,Is your java icon in Control Panel working?

Not sure why why you can't install, try this alternative link - http://www.majorgeeks.com/Sun_Java_Runt ... d4648.html

download the latest version from MG first. Don't run it yet!

We need to reveal system folders
  • Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
  • Double-click on the My Computer icon.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options
  • After the new window appears select the View tab.
  • Place a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders
  • Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders
  • Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types
  • Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files
  • Press the Apply and then the ok button and shut down my computer
  • Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.
  • For you and the tools to be able to see appropriate files we need to Show Hidden Files

Go to this folder: C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\Application Data\Sun
Try the newest installer Java installers
Right click on the installer and select Repair.

Now try the update you downloaded!
