Please help!!! ISTbar and then dreaded DrWatson error

Unread postby Devereux » September 26th, 2005, 11:22 am

Hi there,

Please help! I was infected with ISTbar on 21 September, and since then a series of annoying problems simply haven't gone away. These include:

1) Norton Internet Security 2005 always falls over within minutes of a reboot ("Symantec User Session has encountered a problem" due to ccapp.exe error)

2) Internet Explorer homepage always being set to about:blank

3) Occasional restarts before computer has fully rebooted. When situation finally stabilizes I get "Windows has recovered from a serious error" message.

4) Just recently, the dreaded DrWatson Postmortem Debugger error, which caused Internet Explorer to close. Has only happened once so far, but it's a worrying trend - I'm almost afraid to reboot

I have tried NAV 2005, HouseCall, Panda Scan, Ad-Aware SE, Spybot S&D, BitDefender, Kaspersky and so on. Several problems have been fixed, but other bugs still persist! I tried a complete reinstall and troubleshooting reinstall of NIS, but it still doesn't last more than a few minutes. All this points to there still being an infection on my system.

Below is the current HJT log - all help much appreciated!!!

Devereux,

Since you are currently receiving help at CyberTech Help Support Forums, and it is a pointless waste of resources to have an additional helper involved, this topic is now closed. If you should need help in the future, do feel free to come back. However, we ask that you please refrain from posting for help on multiple sites. Pick one site, whatever site it may be, and stick with it.

Best of luck to you.
