I'm not seeing an A\V program running from the choice I gave you, you have no protection! :o

Probably a bug somewhere, cause windows XP security panel says my antivirus is running, Zone Alarm assistance too, it runs on my PC since 4 years and i have got not any virus alle these years (and kaspersky find 0)

When one virus or trojan try to come, ZA block it immediately.
perhaps we can try a test with a virus-test to see how it works ?

Not easy to change it, cause I'have just paid the licence for 2008...

thanks

If you have the full zone alarm security suite licence for 2008 you're ok.
will get back to you soon when I've finished looking through your last log you returned.

I didn't forget!
Optional fixes
Startup items you can stop from start up they can be started manually if you so wish. Just check mark them in HJT!

Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present)

Hi Dan

I experiment always some delay (5 minuts) at the sart and close operations on my PC, but not a big issue.
I have checked all the start process, remove all I know and not use, but process to open and close windows XP is always the same slow motion.

another problem : I can't see the sound and external disk icons in the task bar, but if I run "fixwareout.exe", then, on the reboot, the two icons appears correctly in the bar...
very mysterious for me....

scan :

Username "moi" - 25/03/2008 13:18:28 [Fixwareout edited 9/01/2007]

~~~~~ Prerun check
Cache de résolution DNS vidé.
System was rebooted successfully.
~~~~~ Postrun check
HKLM\SOFTWARE\~\Winlogon\ "system"=""
....
....
~~~~~ Misc files.
....
~~~~~ Checking for older varients.
....

~~~~~ Current runs (hklm hkcu "run" Keys Only)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"ZoneAlarm Client"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Zone Labs\\ZoneAlarm\\zlclient.exe\""
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"ctfmon.exe"="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\ctfmon.exe"
....
Hosts file was reset, If you use a custom hosts file please replace it...
~~~~~ End report ~~~~~

problem is that if I close and reboot normal way (without fixwareout ), icons disappear again.....

if you know why ?
thanks

whilst we are cleaning your pc only run the scans I ask, Running scans on a non infected system can cause harm, why did you run fixwareout again?
It may be the case that when I give you the all clear for malware on your machime your further issues will be better addressed at another forum that deals in hardware issues which you may need to look into as this is not my field.
Please post a new HJT list.

well I think I have found a solution for thes icons :

i have disabled "ctfmon.exe" as described here :

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3 ... &x=16&y=18

then I have followed the instructions hereby :

http://www.tech-pro.net/howto_013.html

and now, all my icons are well presents in task bar, even on reboot.
hope the system will stand still now, that's good for me.

thank you again for help Dan
