Advanced notice of a server move.

The forum will be moving server within the next 6 weeks.

When it happens the forum at this end will be locked for the time while the server move is being done, and will re-open at the new server.

It can take anything up to 48 hours (normally much shorter) for the internets DNS system to 'notice' the fact and adjust itself. While in that state you will not be able to reach this forum.

While in that state and you need assistance either as a victim or as one of our University Trained helpers, please visit :-

http://forum.littleeagle.us/index.php

It is a young forum which is run by Little Eagle and one of our teachers LDTate. You will be able to get assistance there till we are on line again.

You can also visit SpyWare Warrior where other teachers from here are also moderators and admins.

====

I will provide a reply to this just prior to the actual move, so if you set notifications to this topic, you will get an email to advise you of the actual move being in progress.

Is a prospect that the server move for MWR may be tonight UK time. If not, it will hopefully be approx the same time tomorrow (Sunday).

(Say about 9pm UK (BST) daylight saving time - not GMT)

The forum here will be locked to all except admins - who should do nothing in the board till after the move.

Those who can adjust hosts files, to get to the new server before the DNS gets round to knowing about it, can use the new servers IP of 82.165.180.19 to get access. Add the following lines to your hosts file - AFTER THE MOVE HAS STARTED, not before.

82.165.180.19 malwareremoval.com
82.165.180.19 downloads.malwareremoval.com
82.165.180.19 FTP.malwareremoval.com
82.165.180.19 kotaguy.malwareremoval.com
82.165.180.19 http://www.malwareremoval.com
82.165.180.19 www.malwareremoval.com/forum
82.165.180.19 images.malwareremoval.com
82.165.180.19 nellie2.malwareremoval.com

The board there (new server) will be locked to all except admins till the move is finished, Please other admins, leave to JimW or myself to unlock when ready.

The new server should be available from about 30/60 minutes after we start the move.

Those people who have MWR email addresses, please check and advise of any problems accessing the webmail etc after the move.

Remember while this move is underway, if you need help or assistance, please use littleeagles.

Message from JimW re the move.

Also, people will need to be told to flush any DNS caches they have control over. Two examples are routers that act as proxy nameservers, and versions of Windows that support DNS caching. That includes XP and Win2K.

The way to fix the router cache is to power cycle the router. The way
to fix XP/Win2K's is to enter the command "ipconfig /flushdns" at a
cmd.exe prompt.
