Multiple Pop ups, Vundo & Smitfraud trojans

Unread postby vexor3 » March 15th, 2008, 5:40 pm

This past week, my computer was infected with smitfraud, vundo and a host of other malware. I have been able to eliminate the trojans (I believe) through the help of my IT guy. However, my computer is running extremely slow. I have done a HJT log and it is as follows:

I am not sure what to do next. Any advice would be great. And of course, if there is anything else you need me to do, please let me know and I will post it.

I have run the SUPERantipsyware and trendmicro and they both come back negative.

Any help you can give me in getting my computer to run faster would be great.

Hi! Welcome to the MWR forums.
My name is Scotty. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can take a while to research.

Please be patient as my posts to you have to be checked before I reply, so they make take longer.

Please make a uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here in a reply.

Hi

Forget about the Uninstall List, I will get all the information I need from this.

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

  1. Close all applications and windows.
  2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  3. If asked to install HijackThis click on No, you already have it.
  4. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
  5. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt in your next reply

Hello

If you already have Combofix, please delete that copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.

Please download Combofix from Bleeping Computer.

If you can't download it from there, please try these 2 alternative sites:

Forospyware
Geeks to Go

  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Disconnect from the Internet, than disable your anti-virus and any real-time anti-spyware monitors that are running.
  • Click Start>Run copy/paste or type "%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe" /killall into the Run box and click OK.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply with a new HijackThis log.

Note 1: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall
Note 2:Remember to re-enable your anti-virus and anti-spyware before reconnecting to the Internet.

In your next reply post:
ComboFix.txt
New HijackThis log taken after the above scan has run
