Hi,

Is your thumbdrive working?

  1. Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and save it to a convenient location.
  2. Right click on mbam-setup.exe and select Run As Administrator to install it.
  3. Before clicking the Finish button, make sure that these 2 boxes are checked (ticked):
      Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
      Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  4. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware will now check for updates. If your firewall prompts, please allow it. If you can't update it, select the Update tab. Under Update Mirror, select one of the websites and click on Check for Updates.
  5. Select the Scanner tab. Click on Perform full scan, then click on Scan.
  6. Leave the default options as it is and click on Start Scan.
  7. When done, you will be prompted. Click OK, then click on Show Results.
  8. Checked (ticked) all items and click on Remove Selected.
  9. After it has removed the items, Notepad will open. Please post this log in your next reply. You can also find the log in the Logs tab. The bottom most log is the latest.

In your next reply, please post:

  1. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware scan report
  2. A new HijackThis log

Does your thumbdrive has a switch? That switch allows turns the thumbdrive to either write-protected or turn off the write protection so that you can use the thumbdrive.

by the wAy, use hijackthis to gEt hijackthis log ritEX? nOt dSS riteX?

Either will be fine. :)

I ask around first. In the mean time, don't do anything to the thumbdrive.

Hi,

Can you unlock your thumbdrive and try running Flash_Disinfector again.

Right click on Flash_Disinfector.exe and select Run As Administrator to run it.

Quarantine means it's now rendered useless. The file may be moved elsewhere.

Let's check first.

Step 1

  1. Right click on the Start menu and select Explore.
  2. Click on Tools > Folder Options....
  3. Select the View tab.
  4. Under Hidden files and folders, select Show hidden files and folders.
  5. Uncheck (untick) these two boxes:
Hide extensions for known file types
Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
  6. Click Yes when Windows prompts.
  7. Click OK to apply the settings.

Step 2

Check if these files are present on your thumbdrive. If they are, please delete them.

  1. reper.exe
  2. Recycler.exe
  3. remove.exe
  4. xn1i9x.com
  5. nylk.exe
  6. xmss.exe
  7. ek.com
  8. notepad.exe
  9. auto.exe

Repeat Step 2 for your thumbdrives that you have.

Those files are fine.

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan. Please use Internet Explorer as it uses ActiveX.

Click on Start > All Programs. Right click on Internet Explorer and select Run As Administrator.

  1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an ActiveX from Kaspersky. Click Yes.
  3. When the downloads have finished, click on Next button.
  4. Click on Scan Settings button.
  5. Select extended under Scan using the following antivirus database:
  6. Check (tick) these boxes under Scan options:
    • Scan Archives
    • Scan Mail Bases
  7. Click OK
  8. Click on My Computer under Please select a target to scan:
  9. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected. Click on Save as text button and save it to your desktop.
  10. Copy and paste this log in your next reply.

In your next reply, please post:

  1. Kaspersky Antivirus scan report
  2. A new DSS log
