Hi again.

You have 2 antivirus programs and 2 firewall programs installed (Symantec and McAfee).

Please choose to keep either one as having more than one firewall and antivirus running may cause conflicts.

Step 1

Please print out or save this set of instructions as you will be rebooting the PC.

  1. Please download Fixwareout from Bleeping Computer and save it to your desktop.
  2. Double click to run it.
  3. Click Next, followed by Install.
  4. Once installation is done, checked (ticked) Run fixit box.
  5. Click Finish.
  6. The fix will start, follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot the PC, please do so. Your system will take longer to start, this is normal.
  7. Once your PC rebooted, go to Start > Control Panel. Double click on Network Connections.
  8. Right click on your default connection and select Properties.
  9. Select the General tab.
  10. Double click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) under This connection uses the following items:
  11. Select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically.
  12. Click OK twice to save the settings. Reboot when prompted to.
  13. Go to Start > Run and type in cmd.
  14. Type in the following in the code box line by line, pressing Enter after each line:
    Code: Select all
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig /flushdns
    exit

Step 2

  1. Please download and install CCleaner Slim.
  2. Once installed, double click on the desktop shortcut created.
  3. On the leftmost column, click on Tools.
  4. On the middle column, click on Uninstall.
  5. At the bottom right hand corner, click on the Save to text file... button.
  6. By default, it saves this file to C:\Program Files\CCleaner named install.txt. You may want to save it to your desktop to find it easily. Click Save.
  7. Close CCleaner.

In your next reply, please post:

  1. Fixwareout report (C:\Fixwareout\report.txt)
  2. CCleaner install.txt file
  3. A new HijackThis log

Sorry...yes, I'm still here and I do appreciate the response to my problem. I do not have access to a printer just yet, and the advice to copy and print the instructions can't be done just yet. This whole thing is very upsetting to me and I will try to correct things based on your advice but it will be a slow process for me. On top of that, I'm not very computer literate and that is slowing me down too. Thanks for your patience! I will do as instructed and hopefully I can post a decent report on my next reply.

Hi,

If you have access to another computer, you can reference it from there.

I'm not sure which file from CCleaner to send. I have tested my computer and it now is back to how it used to operate. I thank you so much! If there's anything else I need to do, please advise. Otherwise, THANKS AGAIN!!!

It's the list of installed programs on your computer.

Hi again,

You've missed this part out:

You have 2 antivirus programs and 2 firewall programs installed (Symantec and McAfee).

Please choose to keep either one as having more than one firewall and antivirus running may cause conflicts.

Please let me know which antivirus and firewall you want to keep.

I have tried and tried to remove the Macafee antivirus program but it won't let me. I'm sure there's something I'm not doing correctly but I don't know what. I tried to remove it through the hijack this program and that doesn't work either.

I take it as you want to remove McAfee?

If so, download and save this file to your desktop - http://download.mcafee.com/products/lic ... s/MCPR.exe

After that, double click to run it. When done, restart your computer.

Please post a new HijackThis log after you're done.
