Anything suspicious?

Hi Towel your computer is in need a little attention but it is nothing that we can not sort for you, The following instructions will be set out as plain as possible and in different sections. Please make sure that each step is complete before moving on to the next one. If you are having any difficulty understanding or following any part of the instructions then please feel free to enquire so that we can clarify things in more detail.

I would suggest that you either print out these instructions or save them as a text file with Notepad to your desktop because we will be restarting into Safe Mode later on in the fix and you might not be able to access the Internet. Read this instructions carefully and feel free to ask if you're unsure about something

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
  • This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
  • After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode

To boot into safe mode: reboot your computer and repeatedly tap the F8 whilst your computer is booting up (just before the MS Windows flag screen appears) until a menu appears. Once you see the menu select the option to start the computer in safe mode. (It might take more than go to access the menu if you have not done this before, just simply reboot the machine again and repeat the steps)
  • Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
  • You will first be presented with a warning and a list of forums to seek help at.
    it should look like this
VundoFix V2.1 by Atri
By pressing enter you agree that you are using this at your own risk
Please seek assistance at one of the following forums:
http://www.atribune.org/forums
http://www.247fixes.com/forums
http://www.geekstogo.com/forum
http://forums.net-integration.net
  • At this point press enter one time.
  • Next you will see:
Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.
  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
    C:\WINDOWS\java\classes\wintcp.dll
  • Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
  • Next you will see:
Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.
  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
    C:\WINDOWS\java\classes\pctniw.dll
  • Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
  • The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
  • In HijackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

      O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {827DC836-DD9F-4A68-A602-5812EB50A834} - C:\WINDOWS\java\classes\wintcp.dll
      O20 - Winlogon Notify: wintcp - C:\WINDOWS\java\classes\wintcp.dll
  • After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
  • Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!
  • Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.
Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HijackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic. Next let the computer reboot. If it doesn't boot straight to windows, manually turn the computer off and then back on again.

The link to the active online scan seems to not be working. I was able to use an online scan provided by Trendware. It seems pretty clean now after Trendware. Here is my HJT log:

Hi Towel, May I first apologise for the delay in your reply ( I missed your post ) The reason for the link being unavailable is due to a change in the fix, even though you have done a scan after a scan at Trendware I can still see the culprit on your computer. Seeing as it is more than 72 hours since you last posted could you please post an up to date fresh log. Thank you

Hi towel, Are you still having problems now ? Having looked at your log I can see that in the time between posting your logs that the infection is not present and your computer appears to be clean from malware, May I ask a question - in this time have you at all removed the HJT lines yourself or used any other software for removal ?

I do not seem to have any problems. I have not remove any HJT lines myself. I may have used another online scan but I do no recall. Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it. You guys do a great job!
