Hi msksmack

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.exe

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

OK. Here it is...

I also get pop-ups in a brand new window whenever I am using Firefox. I have tried to clean things up but to know avail. It's pretty annoying. Can you help me with that?

Much obliged for your help!

Hi

You have wireless keyboard?

If it doesn't work in safe mode, perform all steps in normal mode or switch it to "normal" keyboard if available.

If you need to perform steps in normal mode, some extra reboots might be needed.

Uninstall via add/remove programs:

My Search Bar or similar

Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.

Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users
  • Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
  • An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
  • If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here.)
______________________________

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
  • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
  • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.
______________________________

Double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.
______________________________

Delete these if present:

C:\Program Files\MySearch
C:\WINDOWS\dwrmntsqld.dll
c:\windows\system32\utgrokjmp.exe
c:\windows\system32\zeeamx.exe
c:\windows\system32\argedcikfy.exe

C:\WINDOWS\bfrgnos.dll
C:\WINDOWS\afxlspw.dll

Empty Recycle Bin

To be honest, I don't know where SmitFraudFix v. 2.286 went. I d/l it like you asked and used it and it seems to have reverted somehow to v 2.281. Sorry.... hope that doesn't mess things up. I really don't know what happened.

Hi

Create own folder for HijackThis to desktop and move it to that folder.

Download F-Secure Blacklight and save it to your desktop -> ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/anti-virus/tools/fsbl.exe

Doubleclick fsbl.exe, accept the agreement, click Scan, then click Next

You'll see a list what have been found. A log will appear to your desktop, it is named fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (xxxxxxx will be random numbers).

DON'T choose Rename if something was found!

Post the contents of fsbl.xxxx.log to here (xxxx= random numbers, blacklight log from your desktop)

Sorry. I've been working all week.

Something you should know... ever since we've performed the diagnostics and changes you've told me to do, my computer has all but shut down. It takes anywhere from 15-30 minutes (seriously) for it to boot, and 5-10 minutes to open ANY program (Word, Outlook, Firefox). It's miserable.

Please, please help. My job is dependent on computer access. Also, please help me address the constant pop-ups in Firefox.

Thank you,

Mark

P.S. HiJackThis.exe cannot and will not let me move it at all from the Desktop. It is "locked" there for some reason.

Hi

Yes, you have navipromo. You can try to move HijackThis while you are in safe mode.

  • Download BFU.zip from here
  • Right click on BFU.zip and click Extract all
  • Extract it to C:\BFU
  • Right click here and choose Save Link as to download EGDACCESS.bfu by Metallica
  • Save it to C:\BFU as EGDACCESS.bfu

It may be a good idea to print the rest of these instructions off as you will be rebooting your computer and will not have internet access while in safe mode

  • Doubleclick fsbl.exe.
  • Click OK
  • This will launch BlackLight
  • Select I accept the agreement
  • Click Next>
  • Click Scan
  • Wait for the scan to finish
  • Click on Next>
  • Now click on the first item listed and click Rename
  • Repeat for the rest of the items listed
  • Click Next>
  • Tick the box next to I understand the warning
  • Click OK
  • Click Restart now
  • Click OK

Your computer will then restart

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
  • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
  • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.

  • Go to C:\BFU and double click BFU.exe to start the Brute Force Uninstaller (BFU) by Merijn
  • Click on the folder icon Image
  • Find and select EGDACCESS.bfu
  • Click Open
  • Click Execute
  • Wait for the script to finish executing
  • You will get the message Completed script execution.
  • Click OK
  • Close BFU

Restart

  • Doubleclick fsbl.exe.
  • Click OK
  • This will launch BlackLight
  • Select I accept the agreement
  • Click Next
  • Click Scan
  • Wait for the scan to finish
  • Click on Next>
  • Click Exit
  • A logfile will have been created to desktop.

Re: I TOO have a Red Biohazard Screen

Unread postby msksmack » February 17th, 2008, 5:48 pm

Please take a moment to explain what we are doing here. I feel quite a bit in the dark and, again, my computer seems to be running worse.

Also, can you address the issue of pop-ups?

Thank you.

Hi

We try to remove navipromo rootkit from your computer which is causing popups.

Looks like that it wasn't successful.

We try another tool which should remove it automatically.

We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:

1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
5. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
6. Restart your computer.

1. Download combofix from any of these links and save it to Desktop:
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you (C:\ComboFix.txt). Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

If you have problems with Combofix usage, see here

Re: I TOO have a Red Biohazard Screen

Unread postby Shaba » February 19th, 2008, 9:33 am

Hi

Yes it looks like success :)

Let's remove some leftovers:

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Code: Select all
File::
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\igaeodndaz.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vlkuzpt_nav.dat.ren
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vlkuzpt.exe.ren
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vlkuzpt.dat.ren
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vlkuzpt_navps.dat.ren
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\caiscfryi.exe

Folder::
C:\Program Files\Common Files\SystemDoctor 2006

Driver::
hdiqeec.sys

Registry::
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"Yow8RgfEj"=-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"pFFU3mT"=-

Save this as "CFScript"

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

Image

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log.
