Hi Kpax,

The NOD32 detection is likely to be a false positive, if you have not already quarantined the file we can double-check it as follows:

Please upload a file for scanning:
Open http://virusscan.jotti.org/
Copy/paste this file and path into the white box at the top:
c:\program files\java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched.exe

Press Submit - this will submit the file for testing.
Please wait for all the scanners to finish then copy and paste the results in your next response.

Note: If Jotti is busy, you can use VirusTotal instead.

Then, open HijackThis, choose Do a system scan only and place a checkmark next to the following lines:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE

Then close all open windows apart from HijackThis, press Fix checked, OK the prompt.
Now press the Config... button, then the Misc Tools button.
Press the Open Uninstall Manager... button, then press Save list...
Save the Uninstall log to your Desktop and include a copy in your next response.
Now press Back and Scan and then Save log to create and save a new HijackThis log.

Once complete, please post the Jotti scan results, the uninstall list and a new HijackThis log.

Hello silver

As follows:

Jotti:
The file you uploaded is 0 bytes. It is very likely a firewall or a piece of malware is prohibiting you from uploading this file

VirusTotal:
0 bytes size received / Se ha recibido un archivo vacio

Can't say for sure if I quarantined the file..

*noticed*
Oh, there's no such file.. NOD must have deleted it.

Btw:
2008-01-30 01:50:16 AMON file C:\DOCUME~1\K\LOCALS~1\Temp\utt2.tmp.exe probably a variant of Win32/Genetik trojan quarantined - deleted KIRKEN\K Event occurred on a new file created by the application: C:\Program Files\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe. The file was moved to quarantine. You may close this window.

Happened after NOD found the trojan and µTorrent tried to update.. Forgot to add that in the first post  Or well I reckoned that it wouldn't be of interest.

Anyhow the virus scan indicated that a lot of presumably harmless .exe files were infected by the Genetik Trojan and 1-2 other trojans aswell. This when I did a scan after the first encounter with the Genetik. I assumed that there still had to be something malicious on the computer even after the jusched.exe was deleted/quarantined.

Today NOD32 didn't find anything so I guess that it wa a false alarm. I guess I might have wasted your time but thanks for the help anyhow! :D

Just out of curiosity, what were the registry entries that were removed?

Re: My HJT Log - Wishing to get rid of a Genetik Trojan

Unread postby silver » February 5th, 2008, 9:25 pm

Hi Kpax,

It appears you are using a cracked version of NOD32, if this is the case, please do the following:

Download the installer for another antivirus program but do not install it yet.
There are several free packages available such as these such as one of these :
Antivir: http://www.free-av.com/
AVG Antivirus: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

Then, remove these programs via Start->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs:
NOD32 antivirus system
NOD32 FiX

Now install the new antivirus program and update it with the latest definitions.
Then perform a full system scan, quarantine/delete anything it finds, and make a note of where the logfile is stored so you can post a copy in your next response.

Once complete, please post the antivirus scan log and a new HijackThis log.
