Hi,
I am giving my hijackthis log. Please review and tell if my system is clean.

And if following issue is off-topic, but please direct me to the proper forum
I tried kaspersky online scanner, I get message:

Failed to load Kaspersky Online Scanner ActiveX control!
You must have administrative rights on this computer;
you also must have the IE security settings to the Medium level.

I was logged in as admin and set IE security to Medium level, even then I got the message.

Hi mak_20789 :)

Your log looks clean, are you having any problems ?

The Kaspersky problem is due to Vista, it can be very twitchy about online scanners

Hi katana,
thank you for the reply.
The trial version of AVG I have says that i have heuristic.win32.dialer.
That is why I posted here. Is it a false positive?
And I reinstalled vista and I had upgraded Java before.
Does it need to be upgraded once more?

Thank you.

It may be a false positive, does AVG give the file name/location ?

Yes, you will need to update java again.

Hi Katana,
AVG gives the location as
C:\Program Files\EpiValley\TATA Indicom Dialer\TATA Indicom Dialer.exe

And what worried me more is that i have downloaded this thing from internet. So may be it was already infected or the cyber cafe computer i used to download this had some infection.
Please tell me what you make of this.
Thank you for your time and support.

( btw what i came to know that lyrics sites most probably have malware...can you please suggets some lyrics site that is genuine? You see I am great fan of calssic country songs.... :) )

That looks like a legitimate dialer program.
Do you recognize EpiValley or TATA Indicom ?

Unfortunately I don't know any lyrics sites at all.
Which ones do you visit ?

Hi Katana,
I am very sorry I dont understand what u mean by if I recognise that programme.
Please explain.
One more stranger thing:
I opened IE, it opened and after a few secdonds disappeared and i got message saying solution available for problem you reportd. I clicked on it and it said that Windows toolbar needs to be updated as its putting your computer security at risk.
then I cancelled windows toolbar, the IE7 didnt close, but it missed the title and the strip at bottom....the one shows if download is complete. And I cant even download the update. Pls help. :(

And as for the lyrics sites I dont visit any now as I got a virusr from one a few years back.

Who is your internet service provider ?
Have you ever installed programs with those names ?

For IE, please try a reboot and then use IE again.

Please post a fresh HJT log.

In that case there is nothing to worry about.
The file is from your ISP, and perfectly safe.

In general all ISP's provide the software for both dialup and broadband connection in the same package.

A lot of AV's flag the dialup part of this software, not because it is dangerous, but because of what it is capable of.
