My computer recently took a dive in performance and I'm not sure why.
Spybot, avg antivirus and avg anti-spyware all report nothing.
I'd be grateful if someone can look through this log and see if anything is amiss!

Hi,

Step 1

Please open Notepad and copy and paste the following in the Code box into Notepad:

Code: Select all
if exist C:\peek*.txt del /q C:\peek*.txt
if exist C:\startup.txt del /q C:\startup.txt
regedit /e C:\peek1.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg"
regedit /e C:\peek2.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder"
regedit /e C:\peek3.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\services"
type C:\peek*.txt >> C:\startup.txt
echo End >> C:\startup.txt
del /q C:\peek*.txt
start notepad C:\startup.txt

Click on File > Save As....

In the File Name box, copy and paste in msconfig.bat

In the Save As Type box, select All Files from the drop-down list.

Click Save.

Double click on msconfig.bat to run it. Command Prompt will open and close quickly; this is normal. Notepad will open shortly afterwards. Please post the contents of this Notepad file in your next reply.

Step 2

  1. Please download and install CCleaner Slim.
  2. Once installed, double click on the desktop shortcut created.
  3. On the leftmost column, click on Tools.
  4. On the middle column, click on Uninstall.
  5. At the bottom right hand corner, click on the Save to text file... button.
  6. By default, it saves this file to C:\Program Files\CCleaner named install.txt. You may want to save it to your desktop to find it easily. Click Save.
  7. Close CCleaner.

In your next reply, please post:

  1. Contents of Notepad file from Step 1 (C:\startup.txt)
  2. CCleaner install.txt file
  3. A new HijackThis log
