Pop ups, please help!

I would appreciate some help. I am not too computer savy. I keep getting pop ups from IE when I am using firefox and it closes all of them down. Thank you!

Can you explain the part it closes all of them down? Does Firefox closes them? You get IE pop-ups while using Firefox?

Please delete this: C:\Documents and Settings\Arthur\Desktop\HiJackThis_v2.exe

Using Windows Explore by right-clicking the Start button and left clicking Explore navigate to and find the following file

C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe

Right-click on it, choose Send To-> Desktop (create shortcut) to make a shortcut on your Desktop.

Update Java Runtime:

You are using an old version of Java. Sun's Java is sometimes updated in order to eliminate the exploitation of vulnerabilities in an existing version. For this reason, it's extremely important that you keep the program up to date, and also remove the older more vulnerable versions from your system. The most current version of Sun Java is: Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 3.

• Go to http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
• Click on the link named Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 3
• Click on the radio button to Accept License Agreement
• Click on Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language and save the downloaded file to your hard disk
• Go to Start => Control Panel => Add or Remove Programs
• Uninstall all old versions of Java (Java 2 Runtime Environment, JRE or JSE)
• Reboot your computer
• Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Java if present
• Install the new version by running the newly-downloaded file, and follow the on-screen instructions.
• Reboot your computer

I would advise you to go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall your poker programs.

OK, her we go..

1) I use firefox and while i am on it ie tries to open. It will pop up at the bottom tray for a and maybe on the screen, but then goes away. This causes firefox to close as well. The pop up really never pops up, it looks like it tries to and then shuts itself down. Also, the last couple time it has done this, it causes the desktop icons to go away....where to, I'll never know!

Run Kaspersky Online AV Scanner
Using Internet Explorer Go to http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/default/kavwebscan.html and click the Accept button at the end of the page.
Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.

• Read the Requirements and limitations before you click Accept.
• Allow the ActiveX download if necessary.
• Once the database has downloaded, click Next.
• Click Scan Settings and change the "Scan using the following antivirus database" from standard to extended and then click OK.
• Click on "My Computer" and then put the kettle on!
• When the scan has completed, click Save Report As...

Do you still have pop-ups? There is no more infection showing in your reports except from Morpheus program.
If you still have pop-ups please post back to tell me so, otherwise you are good to go..

Go to Start-Settings-Control Panel, click on Add remove Programs. If any of the following programs are listed there, click on the program to highlight it, and click on remove. Then close the Control Panel.

I can't see any firewall in your HijackThis log, so i assume you use windows firewall.

FIREWALL
Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. If you use the Windows Firewall you might think that's sufficient but it only controls one way of the traffic (inbound). Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly. It's preferable to install one of the suggested firewalls.

Let's clear out the programs we've been using to clean up your computer, they are not suitable for general malware removal and could cause damage if used inappropriately.
Download OTMoveIt by OldTimer to your Desktop.

• Double click OTMoveIt.exe to launch it.
• Click on the CleanUp! button.
• OTMoveIt will download a list from the Internet, if your firewall or other defensive programs alerts you, allow it access.
• You will be prompted to allow the clean up procedure, click Yes
• When finished exit out of OTMoveIt
• Now delete OTMoveIt.exe (if still present)

Congratulations you are clean!
Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Set correct settings for files that should be hidden in Windows XP

• Click Start > My Computer > Tools menu (at top of page) > Folder Options > View tab.
• Under "Hidden files and folders" if necessary select Do not show hidden files and folders.
• If unchecked please checkHide protected operating system files (Recommended)
• If necessary check "Display content of system folders"
• If necessary Uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types.
• Click OK

This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:

• Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
• Select Create a restore point, and Ok it.
• Next, go to Start > Run and type in cleanmgr
• Select the More options tab
• Choose the option to clean up system restore and OK it.

This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.
