Malware on my Website

Unread postby empmdk » October 7th, 2007, 1:06 pm

My web space was recently infected with malware. I have contacted my host and they will not do anything but threaten to terminate my account. Is there any kind of php-based anti-virus or something else I can do to get this malware off my sites?

Hello... could you tell me what sort of malware you have on your site? Has it been hacked?

What sort of thing do you have hosted on your web space at the moment?

empmdk,
You didn't follow the preparation we advise, and post a HiJackThis log from the affected computer.

In any case, the server where your web page resides needs a proper AntiVirus and AntiSpyware Suite. If it is a commercial site, it undoubtedly has that already.

For a small business, the required protection is something like the Sophos Security Suite.
http://www.sophos.com/products/small-business/
It will protect a number of PC's in a small network, specifically for small business.

If you just make the web pages, then it is YOU that needs the strong Antivirus and Anti-Spyware so you don't attempt to upload infected material to the host as part of your web site.

Sounds like this may be the latter case. If you can post a HJT log from the PC where you create the web pages, we can take a look.

There is some uncertainty whether we can help you here or not.

For what do you use the PC that you are using to send me this reply?
Is the web page designed by someone else or by you?
When a change is made to your web page who types in the changes? From what machine?

Can I just emphasise that Malwareremoval does not specialise in cleaning up infected websites.

We deal with the client machine... that is the personal computer, not the server.

If you feel there may be a problem with your personal computer then please follow Askey127's advice and we can help you with that.

For help with your website may I suggest Stopbadware.org
