I press F8 then select safe mode then it only shows a black screen and then some white code thingies scrolling down. Then instead of booting to safe mode it freezes
Please try this.
To reboot in Enable VGA Mode
You can boot in Enable VGA Mode by restarting your computer, then continually tapping F8 until a menu appears.
Use your up arrow key to highlight Enable VGA Mode, then hit enter.
i've already tried that many times but ill try it again ... w8 the vga mode worked!! but its all big... ok fixed that! But what do I do to make sure it doesnt happen again?
If the VGA mode worked, then you likely have a problem with the graphics card or the drivers for it.
If you installed it yourself, then I recommend uninstalling it and trying a reinstall.
atleast I think it worked becausethe screen went black anyway it took like 7 minutes to turn on. So maybe anyof them would have worked... I think not sure anyway how do I get rid of them?
i did from a website I was told to go there type in my computer stats and then download the graphics card that showed up
Let's try the drivers from SiS. Unfortunately I can't give them to you through a direct link. You'll have to do the following :
Go to this link : http://www.sis.com/download/ Check the box and Agree the agreement. You'll come on a page with 3 drop-down lists. In the first one choose Windows XP In the second one choose IGP graphic drivers In the third one choose SiS 650 SiS 740 series Click on Go. Select a location close to where you live and download the SiS UniVGA3 Graphics Driver. Save it to some folder you'll remember.
That's for the graphic drivers. Now back to http://www.sis.com/download/ First box : Windows XP Second box : Audio drivers Third box : SiS 7012 Then click go and download the file.
Go to where you download those 2 files, unzip and run the .exe file.
I have very little knowledge about the installation of graphics cards.
This forum is Malware specific and is not geared to this type of problem
I would recommend that you go to Bleeping Computer hardware forum.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum7.html There will be somebody there who is more qualified to help than I am.
