Smithfraud-c MSVPS, DeepDive, Smithfraud-c... and others

Unread postby Felo » September 22nd, 2007, 2:40 am

Hi everyone! Im writting cause somthing with my computer is wrong... really, really wrong. (I apologize for my english... im not an english speaker )

Well, my problems go by this:

1) SpyBot, Search & Destroy, tells me that i have 3 problems: Smitfraud-C. MSVPS, Deepdive and Smitfraud-C. (SBS&D doesnt erase Smithfraud-c)
2) My PC is going sloooow.
3) Something is wrong with all the windows, cause the swap with no click of the mouse.
4) I have "System Alerts" every 20 seconds! (they are fake... and if I click one of them, they send me to a web page of an anti virus)
5) And the biggest problem... I really dont know how to solve this.

Reading another threads, i think that maybe im really infected with the spyware that I wrote in the title. But, before to do anything wrong, i wish to know your opinion about this problem.

Well, giving thousands of thanks to the one who will solve this... Chao!!

This is my HJT log: (The kaspersky log, is in process, but i will post this first... so you can read it first)

Hi and welcome to the Malware Removal forums.
My name is Kairis. I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.
I have to let experts check the content of my fixes before I post.

HijackThis logs can take some time to research. I know that you need
your computer working as quickly as possible, and I will work hard to help see that happens.

Please be patient.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.
Double click SDFix.exe and choose Install to extract it to its own folder on the Desktop.

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
  • In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
  • Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the script.
  • It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
  • When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log, thanks.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus,
but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious"
use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Just one step and then we are ready:
Your HiJackThis log looks OK, but that's not conclusive.
To be sure you’re absolutely clean, I would like to run one last scan.
Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
  • Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, Click Options > Change settings
  • Choose the "Scan"-tab, remove the mark at "Heuristic analysis".
  • Back at the main window, mark the drives that you want to scan.
  • Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
  • Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
  • Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  • When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found:
    Image
If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:
    Image
This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
  • After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
  • Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
  • After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously in your next reply with a new hijackthis log.
