Have a read of this and then send your MP an email and ask him/her if Parliament are going to look at this report any time soon and if any of the recommendations are going to be adopted and when... and if any aren't, why not??

Have you posted this at MalwareComplaint Nellie?

I'm sure my local MP who I contact with last year may be interested in this.

When I get time, I'll try and contact him

Oooh no I haven't.. I'll do it now!!

I've been a bit busy having an argument about this on another forum... I'm getting the 'what's the point' attitude

I've edited the post on my blog to give a list of MP's and their contact details!!

Keep at it though. I think it's a worthy cause.

If it wasen't for the flooding back in June I would have contacted my MP. Just to refresh his memory somewhat and try for a new push.

I'll let you know over at MWC how it goes etc when I eventually do get in touch him him.

Thanks Andy.. I'm getting a fair bit of negative feedback on this. People are so apathetic and think its a lost cause without even trying. :(

Haven't had time to read through all the House of Lords report yet (I've got a few things on this weekend), when I have I'll attempt to write a template for a letter.

Won't be able to do this till early next week, hopefully this may encourage a few more people to contact their MP.

Ohh thanks Gary, that would be great!!

The report is quite easy to read, it's not full of loads of legal speak!!

OK, this is my first draft.

I've tried to keep it as brief as possible without too much waffle, so that it is more likely to be read. Please comment and make suggestions as to how it could be ammended/improved.

Dear <enter name of MP>

I would like to bring to your attention a matter that is of importance to me, and to which I hope you may add your support.

I am a member of http://www.MalwareRemoval.com a site where volunteers train to remove Malware (Malicious Software) from the computers of people who have been unlucky enough to be infected with it.

I've recently been made aware of a report by The Science and Technology Committee of the House of Lords,

http://www.publications.parliament.uk/p ... /16502.htm

and it is this report I would like to bring to your attention.

The Committee makes a number of important recommendations regarding Internet security, which if implemented would greatly help in the policing of Cyber Crime and the eradication of Malware from the day to day experience of innocent computer users.

I hope you can lend these recommendations your support, and help in whatever way you can to ensure they become law as rapidly as possible.

Yours faithfully,

<add your name and address>

EDIT: I've re-written things slightly from my earlier post as e-mail contact with my MP was via an online submission page which did not support links. I suspect this is so for most MPs.

I would be tempted to include malware complaints into this and the following:

I don't really want to make the letter too long in case it loses "impact". I agree it would be useful to make them aquainted with the existence of Malware Complaints, and that other MPs have shown interest and support. But I feel this might be better reserved for a follow up letter once and if you get a response from your MP.
