We need to have a better look at that file you have.
C:\windows\system32\kosgkosptw.exe

Go to this page.
Enter the url of this thread in the first field.
http://www.malwareremoval.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23113
Where it says, browse to the file that you want to submit, click the browse button next to it and browse to next file, select it and click ok:

After the above:

Download ComboFix from Here] to your Desktop.
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you, combofix.txt. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick while its running. That may cause it to stall

I have got as far as the Bleeping computer page. When I copy & paste, the box reads "Website Home". By clicking on the browse button it selects the System32 file. Am I proceeding correctly so far? What should I do now? Should I click on the kosgkosptw file?

Thanks. I suffer with narcolepsy. Dealing with all this is making me stressed now, so I am going to come back to it in about 3 or 4 hours. Sorry.

OK. Lets forget the combofix scan and do this one instead, it should be easier.

Please download Navilog1 by IL-MAFIOSO: from this link.
http://perso.orange.fr/il.mafioso/Navifix/Navilog1.exe

  • Double click on navilog1.exe to install it on your computer.
  • When the installation is complete, the tool will start automatically.
  • If it doesn't start automatically, please double click on Navilog1 shortcut on your desktop to run it.
  • Press E for English from the language Menu.
  • Type 1 in the next Menu to select Search and press Enter.
  • Wait for the Scan to finish (It may take a reasonable amount of time)
  • Press any key as requested .
  • A new document will be produced: fixnavi.txt.
  • Please copy/paste the contents of this report in your next reply.
The report is also saved in the root of the directory, "%SystemDrive%\fixnavi.txt". (usually C:\fixnavi.txt)

So it looks like kosgkosptw.exe is part of the infection.

  • Double click on Navilog1 shortcut icon on your desktop to run it.
  • Press E for English from the language Menu.
  • Type 2 in the next Menu and press Enter.
  • The tool will then advise you that it will restart your computer.
  • Close all open windows and save personnal documents, if open, too.
  • If your computer doesn't restart automatically, restart it manually.
  • Choose your usual session.
  • Wait for the *** Clean finished the ... *** message (It may take a reasonable amount of time)
  • A new document will be produced.
  • Please copy/paste the contents of this report in your next reply.
  • Your desktop will now appear.

Note : In the event you lose your desktop, press CTRL+ALT+Delete and run Explorer.exe as a new task.

The report is also saved in the root directory, %SystemDrive%\cleannavi.txt.. (usually C:\cleannavi.txt)

Could you clarify the following please. I dont want to dig a bigger hole due to my ignorance. What personnal docs might be open and want saving? What do you mean by "Choose your usual session"?

It's now very well written. Do it this way.

Double click on Navilog1 shortcut icon on your desktop to run it.

Press E for English from the language Menu.

Type 2 in the next Menu and press Enter.

The tool will then advise you that it will restart your computer.

If your computer doesn't restart automatically, restart it manually.

Wait for the *** Clean finished the ... *** message (It may take a reasonable amount of time)

A new document will be produced: fixnavi.txt. . If it tells you that file already exist, select to overwrite it.

Please copy/paste the contents of this report in your next reply.
