I have some problems. Once internet explorer is opened, I start getting pop ups about security problems and virus infections. Websites automatically start running. Udefender.com, scanner.spy-shredder.com, securepccleanse.com. I am also getting alerts that say trojan.W32.Looksky has infected my computer. I have ran many scans including AVGfree which sometimes finds a trojan horse clicker, Ad-Aware SE personal which didn't find anything, TrojanHunter found Adware.agent.194 and trojandownloader.zlob.833. I have also ran SpyHunter and multivirus cleaner with no results. I am at my wits end about ready to throw my computer away, Please help. Here is my log.

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

My name is Simon V., and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

HijackThis logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me. I know that you need your computer working as quickly as possible, and I will work hard to help see that happens.
I am currently looking over your log. As I am a trainee, everything that I post to you must be checked by an Admin or Moderator. Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts, but it shouldn't be too long. I will post back shortly with a potential fix.

Please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:

  • I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

    SmitfraudFix

  • Please download SmitfraudFix (By S!ri).
    • Double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe. A screen will pop up. Select Option 1 (Search) by typing 1 and hit enter. A text file will appear, which will list the infected files. Save it to a convenient location.
    • The log will also be saved here: C:\rapport.txt
    • Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
    Make an Uninstall List
  • To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

    1. Start HijackThis
    2. Click on the Config button
    3. Click on the Misc Tools button
    4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
    5. Click on the Save list... button and save the file to a convenient location. When you press Save, Notepad will open with the contents of that file.

    Report Back
  • Please post the report from SmitfraudFix and the Uninstall List, along with a new HijackThis log in your next reply.

me again

Unread postby boopadog » August 29th, 2007, 11:12 pm

Well I think I messed up somehow. I was unable to save a report from the AVG anti-spyware. It didn't give me the option after I hit apply all actions and it then asked me in a popup "to remove all of the application?" about some of the cookies which I selected yes to all. Do you want me to scan again? Or send you some other information? Im sorry, I followed your instrutions to the letter. I also didn't remove Full Tilt Poker and Poker Stars since I am a professional poker player and need those sites.
I was unable to remove My Way search Assistant, it stated Error loading C:\PROGRAM~1\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe\1.bin\desrcas.dll. The Specified module could not be found.
Here is the smitfraud fix log and the hijackthis log.

    Hi :)

You did fine, but currently there is a bug in AVG Anti-Spyware, and my instructions aren’t tailored to that. We’ll manage without the report ;)

    Fix Entries with HijackThis

  • Open HijackThis, perform a scan and put a check next to the following items (if present):

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://bfc.myway.com/search/de_srchlft.html
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://softwarereferral.com/jump.php?wm ... Ojg5&lid=2
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {4D25F926-B9FE-4682-BF72-8AB8210D6D75} - C:\Program Files\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe\1.bin\deSrcAs.dll (file missing)
    O4 - Global Startup: Digital Line Detect.lnk = ?
    O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\RunApp.exe (file missing)
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\RunApp.exe (file missing)
    O9 - Extra button: Bodog Poker - {F47C1DB5-ED21-4dc1-853E-D1495792D4C5} - C:\Program Files\Bodog Poker\BPGame.exe (file missing)

Close all programs except HijackThis and click on Fix checked.

    Delete Folders
  • Navigate to the following folders using Windows Explorer and delete them when found:

    C:\Program Files\MyWaySA\
    C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\
    C:\Program Files\Bodog Poker\

    Run Kaspersky Online Scan
  • Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

    Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, click Yes.
    • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
    • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
    • Now click on Scan Settings
    • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
      • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
        Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
      • Scan Options:
        Scan Archives Scan Mail Bases
    • Click OK
    • Now under select a target to scan:
        Select My Computer
    • The program will start and scan your system.
    • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
    • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
      • Now click on the Save as Text button:
    • Save the file to your desktop.
    Report Back
  • Please post the reports from the Kasperksy Online Scan, along with a new HijackThis log in your next reply. Also tell me how everything is working.

hello

Unread postby boopadog » August 31st, 2007, 12:41 am

Well, again I had some problems. The kaspersky scan wouldn't let me save a file after I was done scanning. It didn't give me the button or option. I think their website are having errors, the scanning page said errors on page and none of their website would load. I am sorry. It did say I had 6 viruses found and 93 infected objects. AVG kept popping up while it was scanning with threat detected, trojan horse clickers and trojan horse downloader zlob. I clicked heal like I always do. I was able to delete those files you wanted gone. I also did the hijack this things you wanted. Here is the new log. Thanks again for your help. By the way, my computer is running lots better. No more stupid webpages loading about syware or alert popups. Thanks.

    Hi :)

    Prevention

  • Congratulations, your log looks clean. Please advise of any problems you are still experiencing, or follow these simple steps to keep your computer clean in the future:
    • Delete Tools - You can now delete the following files/folders:
      • SmitfraudFix.exe
    • Disable and Enable System Restore - If you are using Windows ME or XP then you should disable and re-enable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.
      • Turn off System Restore.
      • On the desktop, right-click My Computer
      • Click Properties
      • Click the System Restore tab
      • Check Turn off System Restore
      • Click Apply, and then click OK
      • Reboot.
      • Turn on System Restore.
      • On the desktop, right-click My Computer
      • Click Properties
      • Click the System Restore tab
      • Uncheck Turn off System Restore
      • Click Apply, and then click OK
NOTE: only do this ONCE, NOT on a regular basis!
    • Make your Internet Explorer more secure
      • From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
      • Click once on the Security tab.
      • Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
      • Click once on the Custom Level button.
        • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt.
        • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable.
        • Change the Initialise and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable.
        • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt.
        • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt.
        • Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt.
        • When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
        • If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
      • Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
    • Update your Anti-Virus Software - It is very imprtant that you update your Anti-Virus software at least once a week (even more if you wish). If you do not update your Anti-Virus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.
    • Use a Firewall - A firewall is very important for the security of your computer. The Windows Firewall which comes with Service Pack 2 does not monitor outgoing connections, so any malware can 'phone home' without you knowing it. For an article on firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:
Computer Safety On line - Software Firewalls
    • Visit Microsoft's Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://update.microsoft.com/ regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.
    • Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option.
This will provide real-time spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an anti virus software. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
      Instructions for - Spybot S & D and Ad-aware
    • Install Ad-Aware - Install and download Ad-Aware. You should also scan your computer with the program on a regular basis just as you would an anti virus software in conjunction with Spybot. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
      Instructions for - Spybot S & D and Ad-aware
    • Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will add a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs. An article on anti-malware products with links for this program and others can be found here:
Computer Safety on line - Anti-Malware
    • Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.

Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.
    • Stand Up and Be Counted!

Please take the time to tell us what you would like to be done about the people who are behind all the problems you have had. We can only get something done about this if the people that we help, like you, are prepared to complain. We have a dedicated forum for collecting these complaints Malware Complaints, you have to be registered to post after registering just find your country room and register your complaint.
The infection you had was Smitfraud.
    • >> Here << you can see how you can help us.
