Hi chi_man

I don't see any malware there.

Does McAfee have a firewall?

If so, you should uninstall ZoneAlarm.

You can also prevent these programs from starting (it will improve speed):

Open HijackThis, click do a system scan only and checkmark these

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

O4 - Global Startup: HP Photosmart Premier Snelstart.lnk = C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqthb08.exe

Close all windows including browser and press fix checked.

If you need them, you can restore them from HijackThis backups:

- Open HijackThis
- Select view the list of backups
- Checkmark the one you want to restore
- Click Restore

For general slowness issues, see here

And post back if those tips helped :)

Hi, I remember you from last year, you helped me back in that time...

Anyways, after reading the two articles that you gave me, I think I know what is slowing my pc, I think its Mcaffee since its considered a heavy startup programme. I've done what you said and fixed those startup programmes... Ow and would it be better to delete zonealarm and instead using Mcaffee's firewall? At this moment I am using zonealarm and havent installed Mcaffee's firewall.

one more thing, since I am still surfing pretty safe (thanks to you) I want to ask if there are any other causes that causes my pc to freeze during 'heavy events' like gaming?

Hi

"I've done what you said and fixed those startup programmes... Ow and would it be better to delete zonealarm and instead using Mcaffee's firewall?"

Yes I would say so if you don't need to pay extra for McAfee firewall.

"one more thing, since I am still surfing pretty safe (thanks to you) I want to ask if there are any other causes that causes my pc to freeze during 'heavy events' like gaming?"

Amount of RAM might be the most obvious reason as well as lack of free space on HD and/or fragmented HD.

I dont have to pay extra for the firewall since it is included in the Mcaffee cd. So Ill install that one instead of zonealarm.

My computer indeed does not have that much RAM, it only has 128 MB RAM, so in order to let my pc run more smoothly I need to make up more spaces in my pc and uninstall unused prgrammes?

Hi

Yes, I recommend that. Uninstall ZoneAlarm after installing McAfee firewall.

"My computer indeed does not have that much RAM, it only has 128 MB RAM, so in order to let my pc run more smoothly I need to make up more spaces in my pc and uninstall unused prgrammes?"

Actually you should install more RAM; that will help you most.

At least double your RAM or rather install 384 MB more RAM, if possible.

If you have no chance to do it, defragment your HD and make sure that you have some free space on HD, too.

I am not really a computer wonder, but a RAM thingy is a card that you put on your motherboard right? So if I were to install I need to buy a new RAM card and put it on my motherboard and remove my old one?

Hi

No, you add RAM in chips.

It depends on your motherboard how many and what type of RAM chips you can add.

See your motherboard manual for more info if available.

If unsure, I recommend to take your computer to some store; they will there what RAM and how much can be added.

oke... I think I better can let the store do it before I buy the wrong RAM chips, but due the heaviness of my pc... I can also just give him the type of my motherboard (in my case its a Aopen AX45-533N) and they will know what kind of chips I can put on it?
