Paltalk

Unread postby blackmirror » August 10th, 2007, 10:56 am

We run a paltalk room once a week and we have a deaf member at the forum
While people are typing he can follow the conversation
Is there an add on for Paltalk do you know?? so the voice would be converted into text

I have had a google but all i can find are text to speech which is no use at all

Many thanks for any suggestions

tried the paltalk help room and they were as much use as a chocolate chair :D

I'll probably be proved wrong... but my understanding of speech recognition software is that you initially have to train it to recognise your voice.

So I doubt very much if there will be a program that will understand lots of different voices, let alone an add on :(

Hello Nellie
i think he has solved the problem but as he is on holiday i cant give any details

We find the Wednesday Paltalk sessions great fun as i hope he has solved it and is will add a new dimensioin to his experience

I cant imagine what its like to be deaf missing out on so much interaction

Forums like Kickenhardware where there are a regular group of users are good for him

Hes such a character as well he makes me laugh
If anyone would like to join our chats on a Wednesday you are most welcome
Its not all pc related ( thats boring LOL]

Thanks for your comments Nellie

Well he is back from holiday now and we are contacting the Paltalk Admin

He has also had the idea of setting up a room just for deaf people with the microphone option turned off :)

As soon as i have any details i will pass them on

It must be lonely to be in a world of silence
