TCP/IP spooldr malware attack

Much to my chagrin, a well-meaning friend opened one of the stupid, infected eCard attachments, and opened a virtual can of worms on my business laptop. I have run AdAware, a trojan hunter, and AVG, and purged out everything they found (had then already installed on the machine in question). Unfortunately, this problem has left me with no TCP/IP functionality, and I cannot connect to the internet to download any additional software tools, including HJT.

What is the recommended procedure from this point? I am desperate and urgent. Thus far, the people or firms I have contacted for computer repair either know less than I do about this particular problem, or they simply want to charge me to throw in my original system disks. I have no choice but to attack this thing myself, so I am delighted to find this wonderful forum.

Any advice will be SO much appreciated... Help!

When this happens, you have to download HJT on a computer with Internet access, and save the program or its installer to a flash drive (best?), floppy or CD.

Then plug the removable media (flash drive, etc) into the infected computer, copy the tool or installer to the infected PC, install HJT and run a log. You then copy the log back to the flash drive and use the clean PC to post the log here in the forum.

You are stuck with both downloading tools and posting to threads by using a separate PC until the infected one gets clean enough to communicate on its own.

If you can manage it, post the resulting HJT log back here and I will try to help out.
