Hi, I hope I am doing this correctly and posting in the correct form.

Last Thursday as I was on the net for work, all of a sudden my computer became overtaken by what I have found out by this virus/worm. Funny enough, I work at a computer programming company, but needless to say, nothing I am doing is helping me rid of this. I have downloaded different anti-virus protectors and quarrantined items. I have done a regedit and so forth. Each time I run a new scan, it says there are no more viruses or anything, but my computer is continually running slow, and pop ups stating windows has detected and Internet attack attempt etc. Also, explorer is popping up non stop with http://www.onlinestability.com/index.ph ... &pn=&pid=1

It will not display any images though.
Can someone please, please, please help me so I do not have to wipe out my entire computer here at work? I had Nortons on here, but obviously they did not catch it nor will their online help unless I pay a hundred dollars.

Also, I have the Hijack Log that was saved when I ran their program.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi AJ,

Open Notepad (Start > run > type: Notepad > OK). Once Notepad is open, click the Format tab and uncheck Word Wrap.

Now, please do the following...

1. Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

2. I need to see another log from HijackThis.
  • Run Hijackthis.
  • Click on Open the Misc Tools section.
  • Next click on Open uninstall manager.
  • Press the Save list button.
  • Save the file to your desktop, with the default name of uninstall_list
  • Copy & Paste the entire contents of that file in your in your next post.
3. Please post the following...
  • SmitfraudFix report
  • Uninstall list

Hi AJ,
I hope I am doing this right.

That's perfect! :)

Please do the following...

1. Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update to the latest version...

Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u2.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications."
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement."
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove the following...
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
    • Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u2-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.
2. Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.

Please download AVG Anti-Spyware to your Desktop or to your usual Download Folder.
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
  • Install AVG Anti-Spyware by double clicking the installer.
  • Follow the prompts. Make sure that Launch AVG Anti-Spyware is checked.
  • On the main screen under Your Computer's security.
    • Click on Change state next to Resident shield. It should now change to inactive.
    • Click on Change state next to Automatic updates. It should now change to inactive.
    • Next to Last Update, click on Update now. (You will need an active internet connection to perform this)
    • Wait until you see the Update succesfull message.
  • Right-click the AVG Anti-Spyware Tray Icon and uncheck Start with Windows.
  • Right-click the AVG Anti-Spyware Tray Icon and select Exit. Confirm by clicking Yes.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
AVG Anti-Spyware manual updates.
Download the Full database to your Desktop or to your usual Download Folder and install it by double clicking the file. Make sure that AVG Anti-Spyware is closed before installing the update.

  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.

Hi there,
I am in the process of scanning in safe mode now. But, wanted to let you know that when I went to the C:/Windows/Temp file and deleted, this file would not delete......acadproc.dll

Also, as it's scanning, is it normal for it to skip thousands of files? I thought it was supposed to scan them all.

When it's done scanning everything, I shall finish following all the steps as directed and post what you ask for.

Thank you for all of your help. I am learning more than I thought.

Hi AJ,

Even in Safe Mode? We can try deleting it later, so don't worry about it.

Also, as it's scanning, is it normal for it to skip thousands of files? I thought it was supposed to scan them all.

Skipping in which way? It should scan through all the files, maybe it is somehow?

When it's done scanning everything, I shall finish following all the steps as directed and post what you ask for.

OK! :)

Thank you for all of your help. I am learning more than I thought.

Join the University; you'll learn even more. :)

Is this what you needed? I will be out of town all weekend and not back until Monday. Please let me know what else I need to do.
Thank you very much for all of your help.

HI AJ,

Also, I have ran a few scans since doing all this...

I would appreciate it if you don't do anything unless I say otherwise it become difficult if problems arise. With that said, I see you have Kaspersky installed. I need you to uninstall this as having multiple Anti-Virus programs will conflict and cause other major problems.

Uninstall Kaspersky and then post a new HijackThis log.

Hi there,
I uninstalled the K...program. I did not realize it would conflict with anything.
