Done as far as NT Service.
I entered 'Spyware Terminator Clam service'.
It said ' Cannot find it in registry make sure you entered the short name for it.
'vbExclamation'

Is this the same as Clam AV?

Cheers.

Hi Unstable

Try it this way.

HOW TO DELETE AN NT SERVICE USING HJT

Open HijackThis and click on Config, then Misc Tools, and then press the Delete an NT service.. button. When it opens you should then enter the service name and press OK.

Tried that by entering sp_clamsrv into box, but it says ' This service is already running. Disable it first using HJT itself ( from the scan results) or the Service.msc window'
There are two entries in the .msc window for ST. One is the Shield and the other is the clam.
I have stopped both those services, but am still getting the entry '......already running'
I will send another log and perhaps you can tell me where to stop it in there.

Mac70:
I saw that the R1 entry was still there for some reason, but have now deleted it (I think)
The two 023 entries for ST just wont go.

Hello Unstable

1 Start Norton AntiVirus.
If Norton AntiVirus is installed as part of Norton SystemWorks or Norton Internet Security, then start that program.
2 Click Options.
If you see a menu, click Norton AntiVirus.
3 In the left pane, click Script Blocking.
4 In the right pane, uncheck Enable Script Blocking.
5 Click OK.

Delete bad services
Please copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the following text in the quote to Notepad. Save it as "All Files" and name it FixServices.bat Please save it on your desktop.

@echo off
sc stop "sp_clamsrv"
sc delete "sp_clamsrv"
sc stop "sp_rssrv"
sc delete "sp_rssrv"
del Fixservices.bat
exit

Double click FixServices.bat. A window will open and close. This is normal.

Post a new HijackThis log in your next reply.

Mac70.
Wasn't sure about 'save as all files'.
I clicked on 'edit'/ save as'.
Then entered the file name in the lower box and OK'd.
Double clicked the desk top icon/ a window with black screen opened.
I just had time to read ' Service has not started' before it closed.
I assume that is all correct.
Log below, but can I restart NAV script blocking as I have a Norton warning now it is off.

Hi Unstable

Yes, you can re-enable the Norton Script Blocker.

Like having multiple anti-virus applications running on your computer, it is not a good idea to have multiple real-time spyware scanners running at the same time, and I can see three running on yours.

Spysweeper, A-squared and AVG Anti-Spyware

I would recommend you disable two of them, keeping them as extra on- demand scanners, if you wish. All three are good tools, so the choice is yours, although the AVG is only a 30-day trial anyway, after which you lose most of the functions, unless you decide to subscribe to the full version.

Next, open up Spysweeper and click on Quarantined. Delete what is in there.

I would advise updating Adobe Reader, as the latest version clears up any vulnerabilities of previous versions.
First uninstall the version you have on your computer then download and install Adobe Reader 8.1.

  • Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
    1. From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
    2. Click once on the Security tab
    3. Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
    4. Click once on the Custom Level button.
      1. Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
      2. Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
      3. Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
      4. Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
      5. Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
      6. Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
      7. When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
      8. If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
    5. Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
  • Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly.
This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer.
If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site
until there are no more critical updates.
  • Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will add a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer
settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware

  • IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.

Using IE-SPYAD to help block unwanted sites and activities

  • Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly.
Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.

Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.

Glad I was able to help.

Mac70:
Thanks for your time and advice.
I have done the Adobe update twice already!
Will try again.
All suggestions will be acted upon.
Cheers,
