AAAAGH!

I have no idea what they mean. Does she mean a scheduled scan or just the anti-virus monitor?

I had McAfee briefly when I got my first pc, but I soon got rid.

Tell the user to right click the McAfee icon in the system tray (you prob have to tell them it's in the lower right, down by the clock) or on the desktop if that's the only one, and tell you what the options are.

Hmm, more problems. If she has the disc should we try repairing the installation?

Sounds like two things:
1-msconfig has some temporary changes.
2-McAfee AV isn't starting properly on bootup.

I would get a HJT log and check for both of these. It will help tell us where we are.

Did the user try to get Start, Control Panel, Security Center ? And See what AV says? Maybe you can talk them in.

I can't tell what they are talking about right now exactly.
It sounds like they got into a "Security Center" inside McAfee

Hi askey

I think we're sorted now. Or are you wanting her to look in the Quarantine to see what it has?
