Hi giba,
------------------------------------------------------
Please download SmitFraudFix.exe by S!Ri and save it to the desktop.
  1. Double click on SmitfraudFix.exe.
  2. Press 1 then hit the Enter key.
  3. It will create a report named rapport.txt, usually in the root of your C drive
  4. Please copy/paste the content of that text file report (C:\rapport.txt) into your next reply.

giba,
------------------------------------------------------
Please either print this out or save these instructions to a Notepad text file, as the Internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below.
If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.
------------------------------------------------------
Please download AVG Anti-Spyware to your Desktop or to your usual Download Folder.
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
  • Install AVG Anti-Spyware by double clicking the installer.
  • Follow the prompts. Make sure that Launch AVG Anti-Spyware is checked.
  • On the main screen under Your Computer's security.
    • Click on Change state next to Resident shield. It should now change to inactive.
    • Click on Change state next to Automatic updates. It should now change to inactive.
    • Next to Last Update, click on Update now. (You will need an active internet connection to perform this)
    • Wait until you see the Update succesfull message.
  • Right-click the AVG Anti-Spyware Tray Icon and uncheck Start with Windows.
  • Right-click the AVG Anti-Spyware Tray Icon and select Exit. Confirm by clicking Yes.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update.
AVG Anti-Spyware manual updates.
Download the Full database to your Desktop or to your usual Download Folder and install it by double clicking the file. Make sure that AVG Anti-Spyware is closed before installing the update. Don't run AVG yet. Will do it a bit later.
------------------------------------------------------
Download ATFCleaner and save to your desktop. Don't run it yet.
------------------------------------------------------
Start Your Computer in Safe Mode.
Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly as the machine boots, until a menu shows up. Choose Safe Mode from the list. In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Additional Info is here: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm
------------------------------------------------------
Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted :
Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?
answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.

The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question
Replace infected file ?
by typing Y and hit Enter.
------------------------------------------------------
Reboot back into normal mode.
------------------------------------------------------
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe or your shortcut to run the program.
Under Main, choose Select All
Click Empty Selected

If you use the Firefox browser,
Click Firefox at the top and choose Select All
Click on Empty Selected
NOTE: If you would like to keep any saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit to close.
------------------------------------------------------
Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start AVG Anti-Spyware and run a full scan.

  • Click on Scanner on the toolbar.
  • Click on the Settings tab.
    • Under How to act?
      • Click on Recommended Action and choose Quarantine from the popup menu.
    • Under How to scan?
      • All checkboxes should be ticked.
    • Under Possibly unwanted software:
      • All checkboxes should be ticked.
    • Under Reports:
      • Unselect Automatically generate report after every scan and uncheck Only if threats were found.
    • Under What to scan?
      • Select Scan every file.
  • Click on the Scan tab.
  • Click on Complete System Scan to start the scan process.
  • Let the program scan the machine.
  • When the scan has finished, follow the instructions below.
IMPORTANT : Don't click on the Save Scan Report button before you did hit the Apply all Actions button.
    • Make sure that Set all elements to: shows Quarantine (1), if not click on the link and choose Quarantine from the popup menu. (2)
    • At the bottom of the window click on the Apply all Actions button. (3)
      Image
  • When done, click the Save Scan Report button. (4)
    • Click the Save Report as button.
    • Save the report to your Desktop.
  • Right-click the AVG Anti-Spyware Tray Icon and select Exit. Confirm by clicking Yes.
------------------------------------------------------
Reboot
------------------------------------------------------
Please Post:
  • contents of C:\rapport.txt
  • AVG Anti-Spyware log
  • a fresh HJT log.

giba,
You can Delete SmitfraudFix . Your log looks good.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Disable WinXP System Restore
Disable your System Restore to remove malware files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing them. The only way to erase these files is to temporarily disable System Restore. You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected.
- Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
- On the System Restore tab, put a Check mark in the Turn Off System Restore check box.
- Click OK twice, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
If you are not prompted to reboot, do it on your own.
-----------------------------------------------------------
After the Reboot,
Enable WinXP System Restore
- Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
- On the System Restore tab, Clear the Check mark beside the Turn Off System Restore check box.
- Click OK twice, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
The Disable/Re-enable System Restore sequence is not to be done regularly, but only once after the removal of malware.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will add a large list of programs and sites to your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from accidentally running or downloading known malicious programs. Available from http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
After the installation, click Download Latest Protection Updates. When it finishes, click Enable All Protection.

If you are satisfied with the way your PC is performing, I believe it is OK.
If you have any additional problems or questions, we will be here.

Thanks again, askey127!

I am very satisfied with my computer's performance.
At least the red circle is not poping up again.

One more question is, you said I could delete SmifraudFix, do I need to uninstall or just highlight them and delete?
Also do I need to delete the AVG antispyware and the HijackThis program or just keep them in my computer is fine?

Thanks!!!!!

Just delete the entire SmitfraudFix. (No "Uninstall" is necessary)

Keeping AVG AntiSpyware on your machine is a good idea. Even the pay version is a bargain. After the trial period, if you keep it as free, you will have to update it manually.

You can either keep or delete HiJackThis. No harm either way. Just be sure to get advice before ever using it to remove entries.
