Smith-C.CoreService..even spybot can't help me now

Unread postby ladyluck » June 8th, 2007, 3:46 pm

I have tried just about everything to actually remove this virus.. with no luck! I have cleaned up my cookies, etc.. I even ran the eTrust Anivirus Web Scanner and it told me I had a virus, gave me it's path, etc, however unsure if I should just go directly to the path and delete it.. too scared to try. So, here is my HJT log.

I hope you can help get rid of this. Thx!

Hi, and welcome to malwareremoval forums

I'm dan12, I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Please observe these rules while we work:
  • Perform all actions in the order given.
  • If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Stick with it till you're given the all clear.
  • REMEMBER, ABSENCE OF SYMPTOMS DOES NOT MEAN THE INFECTION IS ALL GONE.
If you can do these things, everything should go smoothly.
  • Please note you'll need to have Administrator priviledges to perform the fixes. (XP accounts are Administrator by default)
  • Please let me know if you are using a computer with multiple accounts, as this can affect the instructions given.

It may be helpful to you to print out or take a copy of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

I'm presently looking over your log and hope not to be too long.
Will be back with you as soon as I can.
Thanks dan

Well done, you did well.

However the avg antimaleware scan wasn't quite set up as detailed as there was no action taken. It normally states cleaned with back up quarantined.

Can you let me know what Issues your having. Do you know what your scan actually picked up have you the path of the offending item?
I'm not seeing too much in the returned scans to suggest you have a problem.

Good mornin!! Thank you

I was just getting a lot of pop-ups while on the internet.. constantly.. I couldn't click on anything without something popping up everytime! However, that has stopped completely. That was the only problem I was having. Well I did have the path, but I must have misplaced it, I wrote it down and I believe I might have thrown it away, not sure though.

I believe at this time my problem is fixed. However, I really couldn't do it without any of your guidance. Appreciate it very much! :)

this is what's listed under what was quarantined under the AVG anti-spyware:
c:\windows\system32\bund1\ClientBundle1.exe (infected with - Adware.NewDotNet..risk-medium)

c:\program files\common files\uzqu\uzqud\vocabulary
(infected with - downloader.TSUpdate.j.. risk-High)

Should I delete these completely from this program as well?

Hi, ladyluck,

Please download LSP-Fix from the following link and save it to a location you can find later if necessary. Do not use this. See ***note below.
LSP-Fix Download Link

***Note: If you cannot connect to the Internet after removing New.net, please run the LSP-Fix program I had you download earlier, and click on the finish button. Reboot and you should be able to get back on

________________

Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall New.Net or NEWDOTNET. If either of those aren't in the list... go here and follow Procedure 4 to uninstall it.

Delete the C:\Program Files\NewDotNet folder.

Make a uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.

You will now be presented with a screen similar to the one below:

Image

5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply.

Reboot and post a new HJT log please.

Thanks dan

Hi ladyluck,
Sorry for delay but have to work sometimes.
I've fixed my problem
are you saying you don't need further help? You still have other issues, you have the core.sys rootkit infection we have to address.
If you want to carry on, can you let me know what you have done since I last posted.
